I want to send something to you,send可以用为送或者邮寄,而mail可以作为名词邮件，或者动词发邮件，一般是指通过电子邮箱发送邮件给某某人

mail 一般指的是小包裹，比如letters ， flyer， brochure等send 一般是说email， package， gift 等。

如果是送东西这件事还没做,但你自己觉得应该送巧克力,那么就这么用； 如果是事后觉得后悔了,则用：I should have given you some chocolates.
