TLS 为传输层安全性协议，是 MySQL 在客户端与服务器之间进行加密连接的协议。TLS 有时被称为 SSL（安全套接层），但是 MySQL 实际上并不使用 SSL 协议进行加密连接，因为它的加密很弱。TLS 协议通过加密数据来确保在两个通信应用程序之间提供隐私和数据完整性，以便任何第三方都无法拦截通信。它还会验证对等方以验证其身份。通过在两个对等点之间提供安全的通信通道，TLS 协议可以保护消息的完整性并确保其不会被篡改。MySQL 支持多种 TLS 版本协议，此次测试使用 8.0 的 client 为 TLSv1.2。

SSL证书，是数字证书的一种，类似于驾驶证、护照和营业执照的电子副本。因为配置在服务器上，也称为SSL服务器证书。由全球信任的证书颁发机构(CA)验证服务器身份后颁发。将SSL证书安装在网站服务器上，可实现网站身份验证和数据加密传输双重功能。

起初是因为HTTP在传输数据时使用的是明文（虽然说POST提交的数据时放在报体里看不到的，但是还是可以通过抓包工具窃取到）是不安全的，为了解决这一隐患网景公司推出了SSL安全套接字协议层，SSL是基于HTTP之下TCP之上的一个协议层，是基于HTTP标准并对TCP传输数据时进行加密，所以HTTPS是HTTP+SSL/TCP的简称。
