不规则发音原因:1. 来源混杂 2 发生了元音大挪移(Great vowel shift)coyote英 [kaɪˈəʊti]美 [kaɪˈoʊti]n.丛林狼，草原狼(犬科动物，分布于北美。发音不规则，主要原因是西德意等语言进行过数次以拼读一致为目的的正字法改革(orthography reform)，把偏离了实际发音的书写改掉。英语正好相反，正字法比较重词源，外来借词通常保留原拼写但吸取一些原语言的发音(而不是像西班牙语意大利语一样根据现代发音重拼)，以至于英语正字法改革就是有，也会保留习惯，不会因拼读一致而大改，可能是习惯了拼读不一致的设定了吧。词源反而越来越重视，以至于还闹了个笑话，把日耳曼词iland误当作罗曼词isle同源词而塞了个不发音的s变成island。(所谓folk etymology)
