英文：glimmer
微光刻只是光刻的一种说法。一般来说，英文对光刻技术的叫法有photolithography，microlithography等等，但是意思上没有本质区别。lithography的英文愿意是印刷，加上photo或者micro目的是区别光刻和传统印刷技术。
采用激光进行光刻的种类和用途很多，直接说激光光刻很不科学，因为用激光光源进行光刻的有激光直写光刻，准分子激光步进式投影光刻，准分子激光接触式光刻等等。而光刻技术往往不依据光源来划分，所以这种“激光光刻”的说法还是不要用。
