袁爷爷的两大梦想就是让水稻的产量一直得到提高，并且将这个技术推广到全世界。
从2000年以来，我国水稻亩产量不断提高，从500到800再到1000。袁爷爷去世前，我国的水稻亩产已经达到1200斤左右。但袁爷爷对这个产量仍然不太满意，希望以后能获得更多的产量。
袁隆平爷爷的另一个梦想是在全世界推广杂交水稻技术。只有解决全世界人民的吃饭问题，我国才能与其他国家建立更牢固的联系，也可以帮助其他国家的人民。
虽然袁爷爷的这两个梦想目前还没有完全实现，但会被后人进一步实现。虽然袁隆平已经离开了这个世界，但是袁隆平创造的一套理论依然会被后人沿用，这项技术一定会永远流传下去。
袁隆平先生去世后，全国各地的网民涌向长沙，人们自发排队悼念他。只是为了在袁老最后离开前悼念他的遗体，现场很多人都在哭。袁老的灵车经过时，人们高呼，袁老一路走好！
