1、sign用作名词时有“记号”的意思,转化为动词可作“签名”解,一般指人在文件、信件上签署自己的名字; sign作名词还可作“手势”解,转化为动词则是“做手势”的意思,指由于某种原因不能用语言表达或不想用口头方式交流的情况下用手势来表达某种意图。
2、sign可用作不及物动词,也可用作及物动词。用作及物动词时,接名词、代词、that从句作宾语,还可接以动词不定式充当宾语补足语的复合宾语。
3、sign作“签名,签字”解时可用于被动结构,作“发信号,做手势”解时不用于被动结构。
4、sign接以动词不定式充当宾语补足语的复合宾语时,充当宾语的名词或代词前有时可加介词for或to。在sign接that从句作宾语的句子中也可加上to sb。
5、sign作名词“符号”，指事物在结构、尺寸、大小、形状和颜色等方面的特征；
