经济舱的主要特点：
无论是双联还是三联的坐椅，都是由下列几个部分组成的，即包括椅背、椅面和椅腿合成的坐椅骨架，扶手，安全带组件，防震靠垫，折叠式小餐桌，烟灰缸，坐椅表面装饰罩，救生衣存放袋等主要部件。上述部件的构造情况及使用功能，与商务舱坐椅大致相同。
基于座舱总体布局的考虑，把经济舱坐椅分成双联和三联两种；又由于安装在客舱地板上的坐椅滑轨是综合利用的受力构件，于是造成了椅腿在坐椅骨架上连接的位置不合理的后果。
就是说，地板上的坐椅滑轨是按受力构件安排和分布的，而其上的坐椅安装是处于服从的地位，对于双联坐椅来讲，其靠中央过道的椅腿过于偏外。
如果不偏，就会使椅腿倾斜；如果椅腿既不偏，又不倾斜的话就要将椅面移向中央过道。其结果是中央过道变窄，而坐椅与侧壁之间的间隙又会加大。这显然也是难以接受的。
