attain与sustain, maintain, retain没有什么比较和区分性，因为它与其它三者意思意义完全不同。attain就是“获得，实现”的意思，其它三者都有“维持、保持”之意，区别在于：

1、内涵意义不同

sustain通常指对法律、事实等的支持，而且这种“支持”是在具有充分证据前提下所做出的。英英释义为：To provide evidence to support an opinion, a theory。
