Apple has entered the textbook market. The tech giant introduced iBooks textbooks a couple ofweeks ago when it announced its iBooks 2 platform.

They are digital books in a variety of subjects from astronomy to zoology taking in science, maths, history and geography.

Apple developed its iPad-based textbooks in conjunction with major textbook publishers. Thecompany offers a collection of textbooks for high school students.

Apple claims it offers a "new textbook experience" and suggests its interactive iBooks textbooksare "the next chapter in learning".

It sounds like good news for pupils and students. Think of it. No more carrying heavy backpacksfull of textbooks. Every textbook you require can be stored on your iPad.

No more having to buy expensive textbooks which you will only use for a year or two and thensell or give away.

Of course there's a catch. You need to own an iPad and as you know, it is not cheap. You alsoneed to buy digital textbooks, mostly priced each at $14.99 (94.74 yuan) or less.

Textbook publishing was worth $8.7 billion in the US alone last year. Will digital books take overcompletely in education?

Is learning going to evolve into something we do on an electronic tablet computer? You canappreciate the attractions.

Instead of boring old textbooks which are quickly out of date you can have an interactivelearning experience.

You can play videos, examine geometrical problems in 3D, listen to music and commentary, make notes and mark passages electronically. You can also share stuff on social networkingsites with fellow students.

There have always been people who have believed that lifelong learning is a worthwhileprocess. Increasingly, scientific research is proving them correct and technology is making iteasier – adults can now take online college classes for the rest of their lives. Even better, thisprocess makes the neighboring areas of the brain more resilient as well. This means thatlearning can make what you already know stronger, too.

So, without further ado, here are ten more reasons why you should always keep learning:

1.Fight Boredom. Most people feel bored when they aren't challenged and boredom is thenumber one cause of bad decisions. If you're constantly learning new things, you'll be lessprone to disinterest. And, in today's world, there are plenty of opportunities to enrichyourself.

2.Keep Your Brain Healthy. A 2010 study out of the University of California at Irvine revealedthat learning keeps your brain functioning at a high level. Just like you need to exercise yourbody's muscles and cardiovascular system, you need to exercise your brain to keep it in tip-topshape.

3.Grow Your Career. If you learn new work-related skills, you'll be more likely to get apromotion or raise. And, with the rise of online education, you can even enroll in certifiedprograms that allow you to learn and improve your career during your off-hours.

4. Model Positive Behavior for Your Kids. If you expect your children to focus in school and takethe time to learn their lessons, you should exhibit the same commitment to self-improvement in your daily life.

5. Fight Alzheimer's Disease. According to Science Daily, continued learning can slow thephysical process of Alzheimer's Disease. You'll be healthier longer.

6. Keep in Touch With The World. If you don't know the latest fashion, comedy and newstrends, you'll sound outdated and out-of-touch. By trying new things and learning new ideas, you'll better be able to relate to those around you.

7. Find and Increase Your Pleasure. Learning isn't necessarily a chore. If you're interested in ahobby such as cooking, learning new recipes and cooking processes can be enjoyable. It canmake you appreciate your hobby even more.

8. Look at the World with Fresh Eyes. Scientists believe that much of what is called creativity issimply the ability to apply skills learned in one setting to problems in another setting. If you'realways learning, this means that when you face a familiar problem, you may be able to come atit with an unorthodox solution, based on your new knowledge.

9. Keep Abreast of Technology. Computers become obsolete within a few years. If you're notconstantly learning new things about technology, you're falling behind. Which means you'llmiss out on social, business and technological opportunities, simply because you didn't keepup.

10.All the Greats are Doing It. Think of anyone, in any field, who is truly brilliant at what theydo. They got where they are through constant self-improvement. Truly talented people areconstantly learning and implementing new skills. It's worth joining them in this passion.

There are plenty of fabulous reasons to keep learning new things, regardless of what they are. Forming new connections in your brain doesn't have to be difficult, though it would certainly bea good idea to make sure it was some of the time. Now, it’s time to go out there and just do it.

Here are tips for how to make the most of yourcollege semester abroad:

1.Do some advance research to figure out which program is right for you. Europe is generallylife-changing, whereas South America tends to be more eye-opening.

2.Before choosing, carefully consider those countries your friends say are most fun versus thoseyour other friends say are most fun.

3.To avoid homesickness, pack at least one close relative.

4.Spend your first few days in a new country identifying local places to eat, shopping forgroceries, and doing laundry so you can establish a monotonous routine from which younever branch out.

5.Keep family and friends apprised of your travels by maintaining a blog for the first three daysof the semester.

6.Be prepared to have your worldview challenged by students who have come from schools allacross the United States.

7.Getting involved with extracurriculars will help you make the most out of your time abroad. Ask local students when the next political uprising will be and how you can get involved.

8.Take time every day to be thankful for these experiences. You’ll be wedging them intoconversations for years to come.

No matter how carefully we examine a text, it seemsthere's always one more little blunder waiting to bediscovered. But these 10 tips should help you see (orhear) your errors before anybody else does.

1.Give it a rest.

If time allows, set your text aside for a few hours (ordays) after you've finished composing, and then proofread it with fresh eyes. Rather thanremember the perfect paper you meant to write, you're more likely to see what you've actuallywritten.

2.Look for one type of problem at a time.

Read through your text several times, concentrating first on sentence structures, then wordchoice, then spelling, and finally punctuation. As the saying goes, if you look for trouble, you're likely to find it.

3.Double-check facts, figures, and proper names.

In addition to reviewing for correct spelling and usage, make sure that all the information inyour text is accurate.

4.Review a hard copy.

Print out your text and review it line by line: rereading your work in a different format may helpyou catch errors that you previously missed.

5.Read your text aloud.

Or better yet, ask a friend or colleague to read it aloud. You may hear a problem that youhaven't been able to see.

6.Use a spellchecker.

The spellchecker can help you catch repeated words, reversed letters, and many other commonerrors.

7.Trust your dictionary.

Your spellchecker can tell you only if a word is a word, not if it's the right word. For instance, ifyou're not sure whether sand is in a desert or a dessert, visit the dictionary.

比如,你确定不了沙子是在desert(沙漠)还是dessert(甜点)中,查阅词典吧。

8.Read your text backward.

Another way to catch spelling errors is to read backward, from right to left, starting with thelast word in your text. Doing this will help you focus on individual words rather than sentences.

9.Create your own proofreading checklist.

Keep a list of the types of mistakes you commonly make, and then refer to that list each timeyou proofread.

10.Ask for help.

Invite someone else to proofread your text after you have reviewed it. A new set of eyes mayimmediately spot errors that you've overlooked.
