简单明了的说，就是“爆破”的意思！战场上用手雷或炸药爆破或攻击房间、堡垒、坑道、堑壕中的障碍和敌人时，因为爆破时弹片、玻璃渣、碎木片、水泥砖块会到处迸射，为提醒周围友军及时寻求自我掩护，以免误伤，一般要高喊“fire in the hole”，以区别于“fire”，也就是用枪“射击”的意思。
