只要有群众报警，消防战士都会及时赶到，保证了人民安全和财产安全。有时大火会威胁到人民的安全，消防战士便不顾自己的安危，冒险冲进危险区。消防战士不仅仅是救火。一些交通事故和人们遇到危险需要援助的时候，消防战士都会挺身而出，帮助人们度过难关。 记得2004年的冬天，衡阳的一幢很高的居民楼着火了，而楼房里有很多人被困。消防部队得到消息，马上派出20多辆消防车赶往出事地点。消防车赶到的时候，楼上还有10多个人，其中有一个妇女和一个一个月大的婴儿。可火势越来越大。消防部队马上派出20名消防队员去楼上解救被困人员。被困的人全都解救出来了，20名消防队员又上楼查看是否还有被困人员，可就在这时，灾难发生了——楼房突然倒塌了！20名被埋在了底下。外面的人用吊车挖了一天一夜，最后挖出了他们的尸体，而那20名消防队员已经不醒人世了…… 这个故事深深地感动了我。消防队员那勇往直前的形象永远地留在我心中。我下决心，一定要做消防战士，来保护人们的安全，为人民服务！ 长大后我就成了你……

Our heroes are the firemen of 9/11. They saved a lot of people which were trapped in the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. After the aircraft flew into the buildings they went in and saved as many people as possible. When the buildings collapsed and many firemen were killed the other firemen were still searching for survivors under the scrap pieces. We choose these heroes because we think it is very courageous what they did. There were so many people who died but also so many saved through the firemen. A lot of firemen came out from all over America to help the other firemen. Because it was a very big disaster and many people were in danger. Many firemen have gave their lives for other people. The firefighters of 9/11 are heroes because they have saved the lives of hundreds of people while they knew the building could collapse. While you go up a burning 120 stores building you would be very scared, because you’ll think of your own life. When you are a firefighter you mustn’t think too much about your own life or you may not be able to save lives. Being a hero means saving lives. That’s the difference between being a celebrity and being a hero. Why would a celebrity be important to you? It is just someone with a well-paying job. You’ll be someone’s hero if you help him with his/her life.
