1、连面都没露的那种，是彻底的爽约：stand sb up eg. I stood my girlfriend up because I lost track of time . eg. Oh,gosh,I was stood up again. 2、中途称有事，闪人了：I 've gotta bail eg. Sorry ,man,I 've gotta bail,something came up. 3、让对方别爽约提前打预防针：don't blow me off eg. Don't blow me off,otherwise you're done 4、爽约的人，连面都没露的：no-show eg. He stood me up again.He is such a no-show. 5、爽约的人也可以称为不靠谱的人：flake，一般用来请罪 eg. I'm so sorry to be a flake,but I can't make it tonight.你以为我是在学英语吗，我是在谴责放鸽子的人。即使罪恶地吃了三块巧克力，都不足以消除我内心的不愉快。然后我又吃了妙脆角，棉花糖，悠哈悠哈.......最讨厌吃零食了。

Stand somebody up 放某人鸽子
Stand up给人第一感觉站起来的意思，但是注意了，表示站起来的时候，只会说 She stands up，中间是不会加词的。但如果中间加了词，就是放鸽子了，来看几个例子：
1) How dare he stand me up? I’ve been preparing for this appointment for 3 hours, and now all’s in vain.
他居然敢放我鸽子，我为这次会面准备了3个小时，现在都白费了。
2) She smashed the windscreen of her boyfriend’s car because he stood her up a thousand times.
她把男朋友的车挡风玻璃给砸了，因为他放了她无数次鸽子。
