The old Olympic games beganaround the year 776 B.C. in Greece. After about theyear 393 A.D., the Olympic games stopped. The firstOlympic games in modern times took place in 1896. 311 competitors took part in the games. In 1992,more than 8000 competitors from over 150 differentcounties went to Barcelona for the 25th Olympics. There were 250 different sports in thegames.
