1300年左右进入英语，直接源自古法语的mencion；最初源自古典拉丁语的mentionem，意为想起。

2、词语用法

mention是及物动词,可接名词、代词或动名词作宾语,还可接以that或疑问词引导的从句作宾语。可用于被动结构。

mention作名词与动词的意思基本一致,指人们口头或书面对某人或某事物进行简短陈述,是单数名词,可与不定冠词连用。

因为mention既是名词也是动词，所以在表示“值得一提”时，短语worth mention和worth mentioning都正确。
