A:And we got a 50 thousand dollar ticket for construction workers peeing off the roof.
B:That’s great. Is the electrician here today?
A:See, I just told you he hit a deer. Man, I knew you weren’t listening to me.
B:You’re right. I wasn’t. I hear nothing.
A:Nothing?
B:Not a sound on the city streets, just the beat of my own heart, I think that’s how it goes, something like that.
A:You and Patricia got engaged, didn’t you? You can tell me.
B:Engaged?
A:Come on.
B:Are you crazy?
A:What? I thought you liked Patricia.
A:I know I’m going to bite the dust going down this hill. I almost got killed on the chair lift! This is going to be so embarrassing.
B:Don’t worry. Everyone knows you’re getting your feet wet. I’ll show you how. I bet you’ll be proficient at this in five minutes.
A:This is only your second time skiing. This is definitely a case of the blind leading the blind.
B:Relax. I can hold my own. Now, point your skis toward the bottom of the hill. Easy does it!
A:I don’t think I can get up enough nerve to do this.
B:Here. I’ll just give you a little push…
A:No!!!!!!
B:(Later at the bottom of the hill…) There. Now, wasn’t that fun? As soon as you get a second burst of energy, we’ll try it again.
A:Don’t hold your breath!
A:Are these your triplets? They’re beautiful! I’ve seen other babies who were nothing but skin and bones at their age. You know, they’re absolutely identical to you and John! Are you planning on having any more?
B:Bite your tongue! I’m already at the end of my rope. Some nights I don’t sleep at all. John manages to sleep like a log even when the babies are screaming at the top of their lungs.
A:Well, tell me. How was the labor and delivery?
B:I wouldn’t say that I had the time of my life but at least everything went without a hitch.
A:Well, hang in there. In twenty years, you’ll feel it was well worth it!

B:I know. I just got back from Tokyo.
A:I know you travel a lot. I wonder have you by any chance ever been to Beijing?
B:Yes, I have. Actually, I used to live there. Why?
A:I’m going there with my family for a vacation next month. Can you tell me what it’s like there?
B:Well-uh... it’s a very exciting place. As a matter of fact, it’s probably one of the most exciting places I know.
A:How about the weather… and the people?
B:The weather at this time of year is usually cool, and in my opinion, the people there are very friendly.
A:It sounds like a wonderful place.

B:What did you have to go and do that for?
A:Do what?
B:You know what I’m talking about. Why did you go tell Mrs. Lee how much money I’m going to make? Now she’ll go and tell the whole world!
A:Well, I’m sorry. I didn’t think it mattered.
B:It does matter. You know how she talks to everybody and their brother! Now the whole town will be asking me for money!
A:Well, I apologize. I guess I wasn’t thinking. I got all excited.
B:Oh well, it’s done now. I guess it doesn’t matter than much, anyway. They were bound to find out eventually. Everybody in this town’s always interested in gossip.
A:You know, it is a lot of money for a first job…
B:You think I’ll be able to buy a BMW?
A:Well, I think you’d better wait and see how much is left after Uncle Sam gets his share!
A:Actually everybody is really impressed.
B:I guess it’s not a big deal after all.
A:Any way, I am really sorry. Next time I’ll think before I speak.
A:Excuse me, Kim? It’s getting late, so I’m afraid we’ll have to be leaving.
B:Oh, so early? It seems like you just got here!
A:Well, I’ve got to get up and drive to the airport for an eight o’clock plane tomorrow. We’ve really had a wonderful time, Kim. Thank you very much for inviting us.
B:Say, Sara, why don’t we meet downtown for lunch some day next week? We could talk more then.
A:I’d love to!
B:I’ve heard the Hilton has delicious seafood.
A:Oh! That sounds wonderful. I love seafood.
B:I’ll give you a call later on and we can decide the time.
A:Well, it’s been a fantastic evening. Again, thank you very much.
B:It was my pleasure having you.
A:I’ll look forward to your phone call.
B:Thanks again. Good night.
A:Good night.
