国内无功补偿电容器开关器件中使用的开关元件可分为三类：
（1）电磁接触器
由于在电容器的切换过程中产生大的浪涌电流和过电压，接触器的触点被烧结并且电容器被击穿。接触器本身和电容器的寿命很短，不适合频繁操作，但通过时功耗很低。它更适用于负载波动不大的场合。
（2）晶闸管非接触式开关
晶闸管非接触式开关开关电容器使用电子开关来反映快速。它采用过零触发电路来接通无浪涌电流并切断无过压电压。但是，当开关运行时，它会产生热量，风扇需要冷却，同时产生谐波。
受污染的电网，该结将产生约1伏的电压降，其自身的功耗，如150KVAR电容柜，操作晶闸管消耗高达500W。它适用于负载波动频率快且冲击力相对较大的应用，因为电容器可以在不放电的情况下重新注入。
（3）复合开关
复合开关将高耐压和高电流晶闸管与磁保持继电器的触点并联连接。通过微电脑控制，自动找到最佳输入点和最佳切除点，实现电压过零输入和电流过零切割。
断路器由晶闸管完成，通过磁保持继电器的脉冲保持电压触发通过电流，使触点拉入，功耗低，无发热，无谐波，安全可靠;开关速度介于接触器和晶闸管之间非接触开关，应用范围很大。
