Internet Should students make friends on line? Some people say yes. The Intemet helps students make many friends. Chatting on line, students can express their feelings and opinions more freely, and even get help with their foreign language studies. Others, however, think students should not make friends on line. They say it is a waste of time. Besides, some students get cheated on line. It is my opinion that students should place their study, health and safety before other things. As for friendship, we can readily find it in our classmates and other people around us.

如何看待网络聊天工具Today, internet chat tools, such as QQ and POPO, are very popular. Some people even think that they cannot live without them. It is true that these internet chat tools have changed our life significantly. The changes and influences can be seen in many aspects.Firstly, these ICTs help a lot for the convenient communication of people. The only requirement is two computers having access to internet. Then there is no restriction of space and the cost is low. Secondly, ICTs could be a friend-making medium. Strangers could chat and even make friends with each other via these tools. Sometime, it is also a good way for people to release pressure after work or study. Apart from these good aspects, there are also some bad influences. For example, bad people may commit crime via ICTs. There have been many cases of this kind. And serious results take place from time to time. Besides, hackers can also transmit computer virus in disguise of chatting. Those are what we should be very careful of.Generally speaking, ICTs do more good than harm. What we should do is to make the best use of them to benefit mankind and make our life better and better.因特网过度使用Over the past decade, internet use has become a social phenomenon, especially in universities. The vast majority of college students can access internet on campus. The convenience and speediness bring a lot of advantages to students’ college life. Certainly, computers can be extremely helpful tools in school and work; they also can be potentially destructive for a small number of individuals. Some researchers have found the overuse of the internet will lead to a growing problem of addiction to or dependence on use of the internet. The above table just shows some aspects about students’ use of the internet in 2000 and 2003.Students were asked “how often do you find that you have remained on the internet much longer than you had intended?” and 88.8% of the respondents in 2000 gave a positive response. That figure increased rapidly to 93.2% in 2003. a small percentage of students(7.2% in 2000 and 10.1% in 2003) reported that they had “missed class, appointments, or work because of their internet use”. In 2003, males (13.4%) were significantly more likely than females (7.1%)to have this reported finding. In my experience, I reveal that overuse of the internet among college student hinges on the following several factors: first, attracted by free and unlimited internet access within huge blocks of unstructured time; second, newly experienced freedom from parental control and desire to escape college stresses; third, no monitoring or censoring of what is said or done online; forth, pre-college online experience and full encouragement from other students online.According to the study, we know overuse of the internet can cause some problems such as lack of sleep and excess fatigue, declining grades, less investment in personal relationships, withdraw from social activities and events, general apathy and irritability when not online. But how can this problem be solved? The first important thing is to make the students realize the problems of Internet overuse and be watchful for those bad effects. Parents should try their best to help their children use the internet in the right way. Besides, the authority of the university and college should consider developing educational programme to inform students about internet overuse. We have enough reasons to believe the problem that students overuse the internet can be solved with everyone’s attentions and endeavors and the internet will serve human beings better in the future.
