常用的有 area /region /zone /district /community area通常用于面积可测量或计算的地区，界限明确，但不指行政区划。如：60 years ago, half French people were still living in the rural area. region常指地理上有天然界限或具有某种特色（如气候、自然条件）自成一个单位的地区。如：the Arctic regions北极地区。另外region也指较大的行政单位。如：Xinjiang Autonomous Region. district指行政划分的区，比region小，通常指市镇内的一区。地址的话 比如海淀区 就是Haidian District。 zone通常指地理上的“（地）带”，尤指图表上的环形地带。如：refugees from the war zone从战争地区来的难民。community 一般是指社区，但如果小区比较大，可以用Community，比如 北京的方庄， 可以称为 Fangzhuang Community ：）
