五人英语对话: Ken, Lee, Stephen, Jenny, Jessica

Ken: Hey, Jess. You have changed your hairstyle&

Jessica: Yup, I think it’s the easiest way to change my image. It’s bored of me having the same image, so I cut my hair yesterday. Is it nice&

Ken: Hmm, I’m not sure. I don’t know how to describe.

Stephen: Yes, agreed. I think it seems a bit weird to see your new look.

Lee: Is it& Wow, I just noticed your hairstyle. Quite nice, Jess.

Jessica: Thanks, Lee. Tell me more, Ken and Stephen. Why you say I’m looking weird& Is it too short& Is it too bulky&

Ken: Maybe you should ask Jenny about her opinion. Guys might not as delicate as gals.

Stephen: It seems I have met the “Jess in primary school”. Have you travelled back to your past&

(Stephen, Ken and Lee laughed together.)

Jenny: Hey, guys. Won’t you stop laughing at her&

Jessica: Jenny, help me. Am I really looking weird& I want you to speak frankly.

Jenny: Don’t listen to them. It’s not true. A hairstyle can change one’s image. Previously, you had a long hair which gave others a feeling of mature and staid.

Ken: Agree. This is what I want to say. You look younger now compared to previous hairstyle.

Lee: That’s why I say you look nice. You have become cute and young.

Jessica: The same compliment as I get from my parents.

Stephen: It’s still alright that you have this look during school. But when you have graduated from school, others might not want to employ you since you are giving others an image of fresh, no experience and playful.

Jessica: Is it true& But I like my hairstyle and appearance now.

Ken: The first impression of you to the employer is important. If he is impressed, then the probability of you to be employed is higher.

Lee: I agreed. I always want to change my image. Should I change my hairstyle then& Which type of hairstyle should I choose&

Stephen: Changing attire is one of the ways to change our image. However, hairstyle affects us the

most since we will normally see one’s face and hairstyle first when we look at him. It depends on you whether you want to change your hairstyle.

Jessica: To have a new image, I think you should cut your hair a bit and make it a short shaggy hairstyle.

Jenny: Good suggestion, Jess. The short shaggy hairstyle can make Lee look more stylish.

Ken: Yes, agreed. Since Lee has less hair and short shaggy type of hair may make his hair look bulky a bit.

Lee: Hmm, I shall consider that.

Stephen: Again it is proved that image is very important to everyone. A hairstyle plays an important role to figure a person’s overall image.

Jessica: Yes, changing hairstyles not only change one’s image, but also affect one’s self-esteem.

Jenny: I totally agree with you. Recess is over. Let’s go back to our classroom.

英文发言稿1

Good morning everyone:

It's a great honor for me to stand here to deliver a speech to you. Then today I want to talk something about dreams and reality.

As the famous Russian litterateur Lev Tolstoy said, “Ideal is the beacon. Without ideal, there is no secure direction; without a direction, there is no life.” So there’s no doubt that everyone needs his or her own ideal. Have you ever thought that what is practical and sensible will connect with our most treasured dreams? Maybe, to somebody, reality has little relation to ideal. To others nothing can be done without the sense of reality. So make our dreams a part of our reality. And make our reality a part of our dreams. There is no reason why our dreams must oppose our reality. Improve our dreams and our reality by bringing them together.

As a student, establishing a dream is one of the most important things we have to do .But everyone must see the reality clearly at first. Your family condition, your personal ability, your social intercourse (交往、交流), your subject and the job you want to do, these things show you the reality and lead you to establish a dream.

Further more, difficult or otherwise, we should put the power of reality into our dreams. Last but not least remember to work hard at the task of chasing 追逐our dreams. Do believe that we can achieve our ideal step by step by the passage of time!

In the end, I want to share with you a poetry named " I think I can".

Maybe you can not understand the meaning of the poetry , But do not be worried ,Let me tell you the meaning.

Thank you for your listening!

Ladies and Gentlemen:

My topic is Honesty.

I visited Dr. James Gilman, the President of the International Committee for Marco Polo Studies in England. In this picture, this is James, and this is me and we are looking at a dragon’s tooth. This is a true story.

65 years ago, James lived in Qingdao. Then he was only 5 years old. He often visited the Aquarium and was fascinated by a creature on display there, which he thought was a dragon. He was afraid of its sharp teeth and wanted one to keep as a treasure.

He kept the tooth for the next 65 years, but the feeling of guilt at having stolen it was there in the background all through his life. It was always on his conscience, and the feeling intensified as he became older. Finally he decided to put right his childish error. In 2002, he visited Qingdao and returned it to the Aquarium with his sincere apologies. He received a warm welcome.

When James visited Qingdao, I accompanied him all the time and reported on his visit. I was deeply touched by his honesty. It has taught me a lot. I think to err is human. The important thing is to have the courage to admit and correct one’s error.

Honesty is a vital quality of human behaviour. So we should try to keep an honest mind in everything we say and do. I would like to say to all of my friends: Let’s be honest people of good moral character.

Thank you.

Dear teacher and classmates:

I am very glad to make a speech here in this class again! This time, I'd like to talk something about English.

I love English. English language is now used everywhere in the world. It has become the most common language on Internet and for international trade. Learning English makes me confident and brings me great pleasure.

When I was seven, my mother sent me to an English school. At there, I played games and sang English songs with other children . Then I discovered the beauty of the language, and began my colorful dream in the English world.

Everyday, I read English following the tapes. Sometimes, I watch English cartoons.

On the weekend, I often go to the English corner. By talking with different people there, I have made more and more friends as well as improved my oral English.

Honorable judges, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen:

It is a great honor and pleasure to be here on this beautiful Saturday morning to share with you my sentiments about life and passion for the English language.

About a year and a half ago, I took part in my very first English Speech Contest. When I stood before the microphone with all eyes starring directly at me, I could hardly speak. I stood there, embarrassed and helpless, struggling in vain for the right thing to say. My fears had paralyzed me.

While my passion for English has never changed, I lost my courage to speak in public. When my professor again encouraged me to take part in this Competition, I said “no.” I couldn’t endure yet another painful experience. He looked me straight in the eye and said something that pierced my heart. I will never forget his words. “Look,” he said, “We all have our fears, and you have yours. You could twist your ankle in a basketball game, but then be afraid to ever play again. Running away can never dispel your fears, but action will. A winner is not one who never fails, but one who never quits.”

I spent a whole day with his words twisting and turning in my mind. Then I made the bravest and wisest decision of my life: I would face my fears – and take part in the competition!

As it turned out, my dear old professor was right. Now, here I am, once again standing before a microphone. My heart is beating fast, and my mouth is dry, but most importantly, I have faced my fears -- and that makes all the difference!

Thank you.

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen, I’m very glad to make a speech here. Today my topic is “I love you, China.”

Since the day I was born, I began to have a proud name—Chinese. Since the day I began to talk, the most beautiful sentence I’ve ever learnt has been “I love you, China!”

I love you, China, and I’m so proud of being a Chinese. I’m proud that I’ve got the beautiful yellow skin, black eyes and black hair. I’m also proud that I speak the most beautiful language in the world—Chinese.

I love you, China, for I can feel the deep love you give me every day, every minute. Last year, I got an opportunity to visit the United States of America. During my staying there, my father’s boss once invited my family to dinner. While at table, he looked at me and asked: “Little boy, how long have you been in America?” “About a month,” I answered, “How lucky you are!” he said, “If you were living in China, how could you learn such perfect English?” I smiled and told him proudly that all the students in China are able to learn English at school. I saw his surprised eyes and said to myself, “I’m proud of you, China. For you are offering us the best education.”
