首先要对口语进行客观、合理地分类：一是标准的发音；二是准确的表达。下面我们就分别来探讨下如何练就这两项本领。分析大部分学生存在的误区：一是盲目地读课文，认为这就是练习口语；二是盲目地跟读光盘、磁带，认为只要跟读就能够纠正发音。如何纠正语音？ 相信这是让很多同学烦恼的事情，练了半天但就是没有效果。想要练习语音，不少人选择的方法就是到书店买本书，然后跟着磁带盲目地读。其结果是自己一个音，磁带一个音，怎么模仿都不像。还有同学将一个一个音标和例词抄在本上，走到哪里读到哪里。如apple, mad, sad, had, cat, Jack...但丝毫没见进步。为何？道理很简单，我们平时说话都是以句子为单位，而不是以单词为单位。比如到了美国，见到一个卖水果的，人家问："What can I do for you?" 我们不能简单地回答"Apple"，而是应该说"I'm lookin' for some apples." 因此孤立地练习音标和单词具有欺骗性——孤立地读音标或单词听上去很地道，一旦放在句子中便无法体现。衡量语音好坏的唯一标准是句子的发音！那么如何去练习句子的发音呢？给大家介绍句子读法“三剑客”：连读、失去爆破、弱读。比如，on it不应读成【on】【It】，而应读成【o】【nI】【t】；同样，first time中的两个【t】应读成一个【t】；美国总统奥巴马在2008年芝加哥获胜演说中读"must be"中的【t】不读出声，读"could be"中的【d】彻底消失。因此，与其将大量精力浪费在一个孤立的音标上，倒不如学习如何读好句子，毕竟这才是根本。 如何用英语准确表达自己的思想？ 首先要对口语进行分类。口语共分为三块：情景式口语、描述式口语、思辨式口语。要明确自己需要提高哪方面，然后再去练习。1. 情景式口语就是用英语进行日常的交流，这里要注意小词的运用。比如“价钱写在标签上。”许多同学会说成"The price is written on the tag." 其实是"The price is marked on the tag." 因此要注意细节的把握。2. 描述式口语就是用英语描述一个事物。比如"a member of your family you like most"就是典型的用英语描述一个人。而多数同学也只会用beautiful, handsome, kind这样的词进行空洞的描述，殊不知像bushy eyebrows（浓眉）、reliable（可靠）、sensitive（敏感）这样的词语会让口语更加精准、真实和生动。毕竟好的口语并不是滔滔不绝，而是能够准确表达自我的真实感受。3. 思辨式口语就是用英语就某一问题进行自我观点的阐述。比如"Some people think TV has a positive effect on our society while others hold the opposite opinion. What do you think and explain why." 这就是一个典型的思辨式口语话题。在表明观点时，许多同学会说"I think"或"in my opinion"。但有更好的说法，如"Frankly I think...", "I mean..."等。表明肯定和否定未必就只有"yes"和"no"，还可以用"I'm with you on that.", "I'm not so sure really."来更好地表达。
