Wuhu, under the jurisdiction of Anhui province, has four subordinate districts of Jinghu District, Yijiang District, Jiujiang District and Sanshan District and three counties of Wuhu County, Fanchang County and Nanling County . Wuhu covers an area of 3317 square kilometers, including 720- square- kilometer urban area. In the end of 2007, with 1,191,100 males and 1,113,500 females, Wuhu has 2,304,600 registered permanent residents in total, an increase of 14,300 persons over the previous year, among which 1,052,800 people are living in the city proper. The birth rate is 8.75‰, the morality rate for 4.18‰ while natural growth for 4.57‰.
