地铁英语美式

我记得这个东西有很多种说法。首先第一种metro是metropolitan的口语化，它是指世界首个地下铁道系统：英国伦敦大都会铁路（metropolitanrailway），不过这个词的词源是来自法语métropolitain。因此有指地下通道的railway也能引申为地铁。subway则是美式英语的普遍说法。undergroundrailway这个说法比较通俗。此外tube也有地铁的意思，应该是由管道引申而来。
