burden 指沉重、令人不快的负担；指精神负担时常有不堪忍受的意味。load 普通用词，含义广泛，指人、畜、车、船等负载的东西，指精神负担时，可与burden换用，但无感情色彩。

前者是放置打扰抱歉的意思，而后者是下载和放置的意思

1、load是普通用语，本义指人、畜、车辆、船只或飞机所负荷的东西。如：A plane can carry only so much load after all.一架飞机终归只能承载那么多的负荷。2、burden很少具体地指物质的东西，多指压得人喘不过气的重负。如：The burden on his back seemed to be crushing him to the earth.他背上的重负似乎要把他压倒在地。二、词源不同1、burden直接源自中古英语的birthen，意为担负。2、load直接源自中古英语的lode；最初源自古英语的lad，意为负荷。
