too much(many)

1、a lot of、lots of

意思均为“许多、大量”，修饰的是可数名词复数（apples，boxes，dictionaries and so on）和不可数名词（homework，sugar，oil and so on），也就是说后接可数名词的复数形式和不可数名词的原形。a lot of与lots of放在修饰的名词前。

2、a large number/amount of

a large number of和a large amount of都是“许多，大量”的意思，但它们修饰的词不同。

a large number of +可数名词复数；a large amount of+不可数名词（且是无生命的名词）。

3、dozens of

dozens of意为“很多；许多”，后接可数名词复数形式。

例句：We have dozens of things to do now.

我们现在有很多事要做。

4、quite a few

quite a few修饰可数名词复数，意为“不少的、相当多的”；也可单独使用，搭配quite a few of...”结构。

quite a few不管何种用法，它指代的都是可数名词复数，中文意思为“相当多”。

5、plenty of

plenty of表示大量的，许多，后面接复数名词或不可数名词，谓语动词用单数还是复数视后接的名词形式而定。

必须注意的是，plenty of前面不加a，plenty本身也不用复数形式。

too much 太多，后面跟不可数名词，如：There is too much water on the floor. Mind your steps , please.Don’t spend too much time watching TV.so many 很多，大多， 后面跟可数名词复数We encounter so many problems in our work. 我们在工作中遇到太多问题。

“太多”在汉语中是偏正结构短语，“太”做偏部修饰正部“多”，整个词是形容词性，因此根据词性等同的原理，对应的英语结构是“too many"修饰可数名词，或者”too much"修饰不可数名词。
