乌龟隶属于爬行纲、龟鳖目、龟科，是常见的龟鳖目动物之一。是现存古老的爬行动物。特征为身上长有非常坚固的甲壳，受袭击时龟可以把头、尾及四肢缩回龟壳内（除海龟和鳄龟）。大多数龟均为肉食性，以蠕虫、螺类、虾及小鱼等为食，亦食植物的茎叶。

乌龟的生活习性
1、乌龟是杂食动物，乌龟在野外，通常都是小鱼，偶尔吃点水草，大型乌龟，向鳄龟有时还会吃鸭子。居住在加拉巴哥群岛的象龟以仙人掌为主食。
2、乌龟的背甲之所以使圆弧状是有原因的，根据实验发现，同体积的圆弧体能承受重量是其他物体的两倍。就是因为这个原因，所以从恐龙时代开始，乌龟的壳就没什麼改变。
3、幼龟公母要靠气温来决定。如果孵化时的温度在36.5度以上的话，通常就是母的;36.5度以下通常就是公的。所以一窝蛋上面部分晒的太阳比较多，就会是母的;而下面晒的太阳比较少，就会是公的。
