雪在古代的称呼有银粟、寒英、寒酥、凝雨和琼芳等，具体介绍如下：

1、银粟：比喻雪花，出自宋代诗人杨万里的《雪冻未解散策郡圃》中的“独往独来银粟地，一行一步玉沙声。”意思是满天遍地都是雪，肆意走过，银粟音不断。

2、寒英：指雪花，出自宋朝范仲淹的诗《依韵和提刑太博嘉雪》中的“昨宵天意骤回复，繁阴一布飘寒英。”意思是今日回想起来，昨天凛冽的寒风中夹杂着雪花，而且仿佛带着几分英气。
