1 Youth is not a time of life, it is a state of mind ; it is not rosy cheeks , red lips and supple knees, it is a matter of the emotions : it is the freshness ; it is the freshness of the deep springs of life .Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity of the appetite , for adventure over the love of ease. This often existsin a man of 60 more than a boy of 20 . Nobody grows old merely by a number of years . We grow old by deserting our ideals. Years wrinkle the skin , but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul .Worry , fear , self –distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust . Whether 60 of 16 , there is in every human being ‘s heart the lure of wonders, the unfailing childlike appetite of what’s next and the joy of the game of living . In the center of your heart and my heart there’s a wireless station : so long as it receives messages of beauty , hope ,cheer, courage and power from men and from the infinite, so long as you are young . When the aerials are down , and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you are grown old ,even at 20 , but as long as your aerials are up ,to catch waves of optimism , there is hope you may die young at 80. Thank you! 3 keep your direction what would you do if you failed? many people may choose to give up. however, the surest way to success is to keep your direction and stick to your goal. on your way to success, you must keep your direction. it is just like a lamp, guiding you in darkness and helping you overcome obstacles on your way. otherwise, you will easily get lost or hesitate to go ahead. direction means objectives. you can get nowhere without an objective in life. you can try to write your objective on paper and make some plans to achieve it. in this way, you will know how to arrange your time and to spend your time properly. and you should also have a belief that you are sure to succeed as long as you keep your direction all the time.

1 A: So how did it happen that you created Craigslist? B: The effort started in 1994 when I was at CharlesSchwab, working then on overall securityarchitecture. But I also saw people using the Internet and figuredit was going to be important eventually for anyonein the brokerage business. So I started evangelizing that at Schwab. While I was looking around at the Internet, I saw a lot of people helping each other out 我在互联网上到处看到人们互相帮助, and thought that I should do something, too. So in 1995,I began to e-mail a bunch of friends about art and technical events in SanFrancisco. Over the months that followed, people kept asking if I could add the occasional job posting andlistings for things to sell, too. Then I said, “Let’s add apartment listings, too.” It was all done through a very simple E-mail, a cc: list. This is the sort of pattern we still have today 现在我们依然保持着这种形式 —people suggest stuff to us, we do what makes sense and then we ask for more feedback. I left Schwab around the same time I began Craigslist. Soon I went freelance and had a lot of fun, while working on Craigslist as a hobby. One milestone was hit in the middle of 1995. 1995年中期是一个里程碑, At that point, I was sending my e-mails to about 240 people, 那时我向大约240个人发送电子邮件, but the list at that point had gotten around to friends of friends as well. At 240 addresses, though, the cc: list mechanism broke. Then I had to use a listserve. I was going to call it SF Events, since it was still mostly events, 我准备叫它SF事件,因为它毕竟还是一个事件, but friends told me that they already called it Craigslist, 但朋友们说他们都称之为 Craigslist, that I had created a brand unintentionally and that I should keep calling it that 我无意中创造了一个品牌。我应该一直用这个名字, because it was personal and quirky. The thing just kept growing. 2 A: Our guest tonight is Howard Schultz, the chairman of Starbucks Coffee Company. He has turned his passion for coffee into a multi billion dollar global business with stores in over 10,000 locations worldwide including Turkey. B: Yes. A: Thank you for being with us Schultz. B: That’s my pleasure, thank you. A: I think our viewers would be very interested to know about your early days, 我想我们的观众会对您早期的生活很感兴趣, how Starbucks entered into your life and perhaps more appropriately 星巴克是如何进入您的生活的?或者更确切的说, how you entered into the life of Starbucks in the early 80’s. Could you elaborate a little bit about that? B: Sure. Well the story is that I actually joined Starbucks as an employee. In the fall of 1982. And when I joined the company we had three stores, getting ready to open up our 4th. What attracted me to the company at that point was the entrepreneurial opportunity 这个公司吸引我的地方在于它提供的成为企业家的机会, and I was really drawn to the quality of the coffee 咖啡的质量很好, and the fact that Starbucks at the time was educating the entire community, the city of Seattle on what good coffee really is. I honestly never dreamed at the time that I would one day own the company 那个时候我做梦都没想过这个公司有一天会属于我, and or be in a position where we would have as you said 10,000 stores around the world 也没想过有一天我们会在全世界范围内拥有如你所说的1万多家星巴克店, has just been an incredible journey for all of us. Actually now you are present in Turkey as well 事实上,现在您在土耳其也开店了, and I know in the course of approximately three years you have over 20 stores and 并且我知道,您计划3年内在伊斯坦布尔和安卡拉这两个城市开大约20家店, I believe, two cities Istanbul and Ankara and you have plans for expansion there as well. A: What are your plans for Turkey and the region in general? B: I must say, I had never been to Turkey before and I visited your country a year ago, 我必须要说的是,之前我从没有来过土耳其, and actually I brought my daughter with me and we had an extraordinary visit. 3 A: I’m a reporter from XX Daily, as you know, the job market is getting tougher and tougher now, but you have got a good position in Microsoft China when facing a lost of competitors with several years working experience. How do you think an interview’s importance? B: Sure. As a well-known fact, the "job for life" is gone - the world is changing so fast, which results in the job market getting increasingly competitive. Most people will need to change jobs at least every few years or so. So you can't get hired without shining at the interview. And as well, your earnings will be dictated by how well you perform! A: But in fact, how to do well in an interview seems a quite difficult thing for a lot fresh graduates. Then what’s your open sesame(诀窍) for your own success? B: Well, doing well in an interview can be easy if you understand how to prepare and know what to expect! It's crucial to prepare properly for a job before the interview. A: That’s true. Precautions avert perils. Could you please explain it in detail? B: Yeah, of course. First of all, you should feel supremely confident in all situations! As you know, there’s no recruiter would like to hire a person without confidence when facing problems. Second, you should prepare for answering frequently-asked questions. The last but it’s no less important, you’d have to train yourself what to say to the tricky questions. A: Right, I can’t agree with you more. But you know, a lot of job-seeker who can’t make it finally even they think they’ve performed well in an interview, do you think what the root cause is? B: Interview success is not just about knowing the questions. It's also about what is behind the question. For example, what do you think they are getting at when they say: "Tell me about a typical week?" Are they just interested in what you do, or is there something else behind the question? Surely they want to know something about you characters. You should convince them that you’re a responsible person instead of your carelessness. A: Terrific, that’s exactly true. Thank you very much for your kindness to share your valuable experience in job-seeking. But for the sake of our interview time, I’d have to give it to and end now. After all, I suppose all the readers will appreciate for your help. Wish you a brilliant future in Microsoft! B: I’m very glad to do that and you’re welcome. After all, thank you for your best wishes.
