Everybody wants to learn English well but many find it not easy．And everyone can spend three hours on English every day，but what they get is not the same．The methods one adopt play an important role．Today，We gather together because of English．We have been studying English for many years．I think we all have much experience．I am very content to share mine with you． I like English．Only when you want to do someting， can you do it well．Eight years ago，I was taken into the English world．It was fresh to me then．I feel lucky because I met with an respectable teacher．Her teaching style was unique and we were active and excited in classes．So Ican say，when I first got touch with English， it interested me very much． To some extent，what I learned in junior and senior schools was not only new words，phrases and grammar but also the enjoyment of studying English．They are all the basis of my knowledge today． After I entered the university，I came to realize its special importance．My class provides me with good atmosphere of studying．For some students，to remember the new words is the biggest barrier，especially now the words are more difficult than before．Actually，words come along with sentences，that is，to understand the words according to its context．Of course，it is necessary that you reviewed it now and then，otherwise you will forget them easily． When reading，I am used to underlining some special and important phrases or write them down on the notebook so that Ican find them when Ireview．Doing some exercises to consolidate what I learn in classes is my daily work．I never skip it．If you want to master English better than others，you must pay more than others，you must set aside more time．Don't be lazy． After class，I go to the library sometimes．There aremany books，magazines and newspapers related to English．When I come across new words or idioms，I write them down to enlarge my vocabulary．In this way，I learn a lot．Besides，reading magazines can help keep your enthusiasm or interest in English because you are not only learning but also appreciating the language． Do you know the channel CCTV 10？I watch it whenever it's possible．The program called“Outlook”is my favorite．Some teachers or scholars talk about the learning skill or some topics people focus on．I broaden my horizon and know more about the open world throughit． As is known to all，writing，reading，listening and speaking are the basic skills of English．They should be well organized and coordinated．But speaking is always the one aspect people neglect．At school，on every weekend，I go to the English corner to chat with others in English．It doesn't need much vocabulary but fluency．My spoken English is strengthened by doing this．And this vocation I mean to have oral classes in Beijing．I have registered butnow I have a better chance to practice．How lucky I am！The more you speak，the greaterprogress you will make． In addition，there are a lot of factors involved in English learning．You must realize“more haste，less speed”．It should be accumulated gradually．No pains，no gains．You must make great effort and develop various abilities．No cross，no crown．Never give up，and you'll succeed one day． We still have so much to learn about English．It is endless．

The more English material that you have around you, the faster you will learn and the more likely it is that you will begin “thinking in English.” . Listen to Native Speakers as Much as Possible There are some good English teachers that have had to learn English as a second language before they could teach it. However, there are several reasons why many of the best schools prefer to hire native English speakers. One of the reasons is that native speakers have a natural flow to their speech that students of English should try to imitate. The closer ESL / EFL students can get to this rhythm or flow, the more convincing and comfortable they will become. Watch English Films and Television This is not only a fun way to learn but it is also very effective. By watching English films (especially those with English subtitles) you can expand your vocabulary and hear the flow of speech from the actors. If you listen to the news you can also hear different accents. Listen to English Music Music can be a very effective method of learning English. In fact, it is often used as a way of improving comprehension. The best way to learn though, is to get the lyrics (words) to the songs you are listening to and try to read them as the artist sings. There are several good internet sites where one can find the words for most songs. This way you can practice your listening and reading at the same time. And if you like to sing, fine. Study As Often As Possible!Only by studying things like grammar and vocabulary and doing exercises, can you really improve your knowledge of any language. Do Exercises and Take TestsMany people think that exercises and tests aren't much fun. However, by completing exercises and taking tests you can really improve your English. One of the best reasons for doing lots of exercises and tests is that they give you a benchmark to compare your future results with. Often, it is by comparing your score on a test you took yesterday with one you took a month or six months ago that you realize just how much you have learned. If you never test yourself, you will never know how much you are progressing. Start now by doing some of the many exercises and tests on this site, and return in a few days to see what you've learned. Keep doing this and you really will make some progress with English. Record Yourself Nobody likes to hear their own voice on tape but like tests, it is good to compare your tapes from time to time. You may be so impressed with the progress you are making that you may not mind the sound of your voice as much. Listen to English By this, we mean, speak on the phone or listen to radio broadcasts, audiobooks or CDs in English. This is different than watching the television or films because you can’t see the person that is speaking to you. To many people, happiness means a simple life without any ups and downs, but my happiness comes from a life full of challenge and experience. When I was a child, happiness was the rare taste of independence, a brave leap from the mundane. I remember the first time I tried to to ride a bike by myself without the support wheels. I went back home with a flat tire, skinned knees, and the biggest grin my face could hold. While other toddlers preferred the safe and secure, I was tumbling down hills and swerving off sidewalks. Even now, I can still recall the exhilaration I had felt when I managed to stay atop that bike for those few short moments. Later on, overcoming challenges that I encountered in life was what brought me happiness. You see, I started learning the violin. It was extremely hard and I sounded like I was flaying a cat every time I picked it up. My fingers were awkward and the bow slipped off the strings more times than it stayed on. I spent three hours everyday, sawing at my violin. My fingers bruised and my neck ached, but gradually the mistakes lessened and I was making music. Three years later, I was First Chair violinist in the school orchestra. I still remember the pride I had felt when I took my very first bow in front of an applauding audience. Happiness had felt so much sweeter after a hard won success. When I got older and saw more of the world, I wanted to contribute more. So when most people my age chose to spend the three months before college relaxing, I decided to get a part-time job as a TA at a summer school. I woke up at the crack of dawn, took an hour's bus to the school every day and spent most of the summer vacation sitting in the back of classrooms, grading papers and taking notes on the lecture and tutoring students. It definitely wasn't the most glamorous summer, but it was one of the happiest and most memorable moments of my life. It didn’t just make me happy because it had been my first part-time job. I was happy because I had spent my time doing something worthwhile. I had contributed in my own way, and the children were going to do better in school in the coming year. Over the years, I’ve had my fair share of cuts and bruises, but the scars left behind are the testimony of my own unique experiences and the fulfilling life that I want to pursue. Our time is limited and I want to experience as much as life can offer. My happiness comes from living an exciting and worthy life, true to myself and true to the world. If personal happiness were a self portrait, then each day would be a stroke of the brush, each experience a splash of vivid paint. And when we are old, we can look back upon our life and the dots will connect, every brush of color will come together and reveal a life worth living and a person worth being.
