母亲节翻译为Mother's Day，意思是母亲的节日。因为对我们每个人来说，都只有一位亲妈妈，所以mother不用加S。每年五月的第二个星期日是母亲节，它是一个感谢母亲的节日。
节日名称如“Mother's Day”“Father's Day”，Mother和Father在此表示的是一种称呼，称呼是专指某人的专有名词。专有名词的第一个字母要大写，且一般没有复数形式。

mom是美式英语，美国人更爱用。
mum是英式英语，英国人用得更多。
吐槽一下：其实按照发音规则，明显mum才是准确的拼写，但是美国人就是要另辟蹊径！
在美式英语American English中，my mom的出现频率更高。
而英式英语British English里面，my mum的出现频率更高。

mum和mummy除了可以表示母亲，还有其他意思。
mum这个词可以作为形容词，常和“沉默的”silent相关。
所以你经常会看到以下的两个英语词组搭配：
keep mum 保持沉默
stay mum 保持沉默、闭口不谈
