The number of grassroots unions hit 1.1 7 million, a jump of 15 percent; grassroots unions covered 2.32 million enterprises, a rise of 20 percent.Meanwhile, Chinese trade unions stepped up their efforts to build up the ranks of their cadres. By the end of June this year, 398,000 full-time union cadres and 846,000 part-time cadres had gone through qualifications training over the past five years; 1.92 million union cadres had undertaken other training programs.6. Protection Measures for WorkersAccording to a resolution adopted at the Third Session of 14th ACFTU Executive Committee, Chinese trade unions will form six new mechanisms to further protect workers’ rights and interests. The six mechanisms call for trade unions to:1. Participate at source in labor legislation and decision making;2. Coordinate labor relations at the grassroots level;3. Bail more workers out of poverty;4. Participate in democratic management;5. Forecast and handle labor disputes;6.
