parents who decide to home-school are not without reasons. many may worry about the quality of education at regular schools. they want to tailor the education of their children to their intelligence and aptitude. they prefer to choose the subjects on their own. they also think caring parents make the best teachers. studies show that many home-schooled children really do very well.proven benefits of home schooling are obvious. but educating kids at home may not be the right choice for all families. it may not be practical, and dose not constitute an important approach to children education.with computer aided education more and more available and effective, school education has advantages home education can never catch up with. no family has resources which is adequate for modern education. parents, althoug they are most caring, cannot be competent and qualified as trained teachers. a most discouraging fact is that children taught at home and do not go out to schools will develop strange characteristics which will eventually hinder them when they go out to society. they are sure to lack ability and skills to cope with various intricate relationships which cannot not be acquired through home education environment. and they will end up as crippled.

My Views on Receiving Education
In my early years, I did not see the value of education.
When I was going on thirteen, I started to run my own shop. From then on, I worked hard to become a successful businessman.
One day I realized the importance of the English language in the business world and started taking night classes.
I was able to communicate well with foreign customers after two years of English study. But I started to feel that, in the long run, having a limited knowledge of English was not enough to make my business successful. I knew that only a well- rounded education could guarantee my success in the future.
When I was eighteen, I had to make a decision to continue doing business or go back to school. There was one obstacle keeping me from getting an advanced education. I had only completed elementary school up to that point. I then went back to senior high school after four months of tutoring in different subjects. Being at school for the first time after so many years was somewhat embarrassing because my classmates were at least two or three years younger than I. I concluded that my age did not matter. The important thing was getting into college.
I took the College Entrance Exams. Although my math exam result was only one point below the required score. I never gave up hope. The following year, I took it again and received the highest score in my city. Achieving such an amazing result gave me encouragement and courage necessary to continue my education to the next step.
I am now in my second year of college and know that it is never too late to learn. My passion for studying and improving myself will never come to a halt as long as I continue to live.
“Live and Learn.” is the motto I have adopted. I believe with an education I will succeed. So, if you are wondering whether education is important, don’t hesitate a moment to step up and seize the opportunity.

18岁的时候,我必须在继续从商和重新回学校学习之间做出选择。当时我仅有的小学学历成为我接受高等教育的一大障碍。经过4个月各门功课的恶补,我又回到了高中。多年后再次回到学校,让我有些尴尬。因为我的同班同学至少比我小2至3岁。然而在我看来,年龄不是问题,重要的是能上大学。
我参加了高考。虽然我的数学只比 分数线 低了一分。但我没有放弃。第二年,我又参加了高考并取得了当地的第一名。得到这样一个令人欣喜的结果,给了我进一步深造的动力和胆量。
现在,我上大学二年级,也知道学无止境。只要我活者,我对学习和自我充实的热情就不会减退。

教育投资对我国经济增长影响的实证分析河北大学世界经济专业智立红陈现玲摘要:在知识经济的社会大背景下,教育对经济增长发挥着越来越大的作用,这已为世界各国所公认。教育投资的发展将直接影响到一国GDP的增长和整个社会经济的发展。通过教育投资与经济增长的理论分析和实践分析来说明教育投资对我国经济增长的影响,并针对我国教育投资的现状,提出了完善我国教育投资的政策建议。关键词:教育投资经济增长原因对策▲▲一、引言人力资本理论认为:教育可以通过提高劳动生产率,进而促进经济的增长。人力资本理论的创始人、美国经济学家舒尔茨1961年在《教育和经济增长》一文中,对美国1929年至1957年教育投资增量的收益率作了测算,发现1929年至1957年美国教育对国民经济增长的贡献率为33%,而中国教育对国民经济增长的贡献率虽然有了逐年的增长,但还低于美国大约6个百分点。从人力资本理论提出以来,许多经济学家运用各种方法对教育的经济作用进行了实证分析。随着知识经济的到来,教育的经济功能将比以往任何时代都更显其重要性。经济的增长,除了依靠物质、资本等因素外,更重要的是要依靠科技的进步和劳动者素质的提高。劳动者是知识、技术、能力等的载体,这些因素通过劳动者最终作用于经济活动,促进经济增长。因此,分析教育对经济增长的影响具有理论和现实意义。▲▲二、教育投资对经济增长贡献的实证分析(一)教育投资对经济增长贡献分析经济增长是国民经济各方面因素共同推动的结果。上世纪40年代末由英国牛津大学的哈罗德和美国麻省理工学院的多马提出了关于测定储蓄、投资与国民经济增长速度的关系模型──哈罗德—多马模型G=S/V(G为经济增长率,S为储蓄率,V为加速数)。现尝试用该模型来测算教育投资对经济增长的贡献率。根据凯恩斯的理论,只有当储蓄等于投资时,经济活动才能达到均衡状态。以凯恩斯的这个均衡条件为基础,哈罗德进一步提出,在经济增长过程中,当储蓄率等于投资时,经济就会实现均衡增长。在分析时,我们假设经济处于均衡增长,因此,用教育投资率(E-Di=ED/Yt-1)替换储蓄率。而根据加速数的定义,加速数表示收入的变化引起投资变化到什么程度的系数,即:加速数=总投资的变化量/收入的变化量=It/(Yt-Yt-1)基于上述分析和假说,可将哈罗德—多马模型写为:Ged=EDi/KI=(ED/Yt-1)/[It/(Yt-Yt-1)]=G(ED/It)上述公式中,Ged表示教育投资实现的经济增长率;Yt,Yt-1分别为t年,t-1年GDP;It为t年的全社会固定资产投资;ED为当年教育投资总额。本文选取1980~2005年我国教育投资额,固定资产投资额和GDP的数据为样本,计算得出:20世纪80年代以来我国教育投资对经济增长的贡献率平均在1.2%左右,也就是说,在历年的GDP增长中,有1.2%左右的份额源于教育投资的增长。与发达国家相比,我国1.2%的贡献份额明显偏低。(二)教育投资与基本建设投资贡献比较分析人的知识技能是一种无形资产,因此,教育投资与有形的物质资本投资是有明显区别的。在社会经济发展过程中,有形投资与无形投资都是必不可少的,但其对经济增长的贡献程度却有所不同。教育投资作为人力资本的重要组成部分,是人力资本积累和增长的主要途径。而在物质资本投资中,基本建设投资具有较强的代表性。下面就教育投资与国家基本建设投资对国内生产总值增长的贡献大小进行比较。选取1995~2005年我国的国内生产总值(GDP)作为因变量Y,教育投资额(ED)和基本建设投资(INV)分别为自变量X1和X2,进行二元线性回归,可以得到如下结果:lnY=4.566758+0.300145lnX1+0.478225lnX2s=(1.399671)(0.203677)(0.091286)(0.108463)t=(3.262738)(1.473633)(5.238753)(8.023403)R2=0.996545,Ajusted-R2=0.974351F=1826.967,D-W=1.097676可以看出,该模型具有很高的解析度(R2=0.996545,接近于1),并且所有参数均通过显著性水平为0.05的参数显著性检验。因为F的值很大,所以该模型在总体上是显著的。D的统计量为1.097676,在样本容量n=11,有两个解释变量的条件下,给定显著水平为5%时查D-W表得dl=0.658,du=1.604,这时有dl<d<du,所以D-W的统计量显示模型中不存在自相关关系。此结果说明教育投资每增长1%,GDP增长0.30%,国家基本建设投资每增加1%,GDP增加0.47%。说明国家基本建设投资对国内生产总值的贡献要高于教育投资对国内生产总值的贡献;并且与发达国家相比,教育投资对我国经济增长的贡献率明显偏低。据统计结果表明:我国教育投资与经济增长之间存在着十分明显的双向因果关系,即GDP变化是引起教育投资变化的原因,同时教育投资变化也是引起GDP变化的原因。为发挥教育对我国经济增长的促进作用,有必要针对我国教育投资存在的问题来提出相应的对策以完善我国的教育投资。▲▲三、我国教育投资对经济增长贡献率低的原因分析(一)教育投资总量不足,教育资源浪费近年来,我国在教育领域出现了较为严重的教育投资总量不足和教育资源浪费的“怪圈”问题。我国教育投资总量虽然逐年递增,但教育投入水平依然较低,经费短缺的矛盾仍很突出,集中表(下转第66页)64财经界现在我国教育投入占GDP的比重显著低于世界平均水平。(二)教育投资结构不合理从我国各级教育经费分配比例及其与国际的比较来看,我国小学经费占总经费比例远低于其他发展中国家及经济合作及发展组织成员国;中等和高等教育经费占总经费比例却明显地高于其他发展中国家及成员国,这很典型地反映出我国教育投资结构的本末倒置。教育投资结构的本末倒置,将无法全面、有效地提升国民素质。(三)教育资源使用效率低我国教育资源使用效率低主要表现在:(1)教育部门和地方“条块分割”造成了教育资源的重复设置,大而全、小而全,数量多但条件差,教育质量不高等问题普遍存在;(2)教育设施闲置严重,教室、实验室、图书馆、体育设施及其他贵重器材利用率过低;(3)学校尤其是高校办学模式趋同,层次不清,职能不明确,无特色,不规范;(4)教育投入不注意成本核算,缺乏科学管理,水、电、财产等消耗性开支过大。(5)落后地区以及边远山区师资力量过于薄弱,师资分配不合理。▲▲四、完善我国教育投资的政策建议(一)从我国还处在社会主义初级阶段这个最基本的国情出发,调整教育投资结构。投入重点依次应是:基础教育、中等教育、高等教育,我国应将有限的教育资源更多地投入基础教育。(二)加大对农村和贫困地区教育的投资力度,对于改善我国过剩劳动力素质、提高全社会人力资本的积累是必不可少的。(三)根据我国社会和经济发展的实际需要,调整教育结构布局。政府应进一步深化高等教育管理体制改革,确立高等教育发展的适度规模,优化高等教育资源配置,及时纠正教育资源配置本末倒置的状况。(四)调整内部结构,提高教育资金利用率。首先,对庞大的非教学人员编制的调整和学校管理体制进行改革,促进各级学校教研能力和教学水平的提高,这样才能对学生整体素质的提高起基础性保障作用。其次,进一步提高现有教育资源的利用率,加大对学校基础性教学设施建设的资金投入,加快各种设施的现代化更新。最后,教育管理部门必须加强对教育经费的审计与监督的力度,从根本上节约有限的教育经费,从而提高资金利用效率。参考文献:[1]夏杰长.中国教育投资对GDP增长贡献率的实证分析及其财政政策选择[J].扬州大学税务学院学报,2002[2]2000年世界发展指标[G].北京:中国财政经济出版社,2002.[3]G.S.贝克尔.人力资本[M].北京:北京大学出版社,1987.[4]T.W.舒尔茨.论人力资本投资[M].北京:北京经济学院出版社,1988.[5]夏再兴.我国教育投资的“怪圈”[J].教育与经济,1998,(2):45-47.
