超强台风，又称超级台风或超级强烈台风（Super Typhoon），中国气象局缩写SuperTY，香港天文台缩写SuperT.，美国联合台风警报中心缩写STY。超强台风是指底层中心附近最大平均风速≥51.0米/秒，也即16级或以上，这是西北太平洋热带气旋中最猛烈的分级。

低至接近中心最高持续风速每小时160公里，高至或超过每小时240公里。这种风力，陆地少见，极具破坏力。
