父亲节的由来(英文版)Sonora Dodd, of Washington, first had the idea of a "father's day." She thought of the idea for Father's Day while listening to a Mother's Day sermon in 1909.Sonora wanted a special day to honor her father, William Smart. Smart, who was a Civil War veteran, was widowed when his wife died while giving birth to their sixth child. Mr. Smart was left to raise the newborn and his other five children by himself on a rural farm in eastern Washington state. After Sonora became an adult she realized the selflessness her father had shown in raising his children as a single parent. It was her father that made all the parental sacrifices and was, in the eyes of his daughter, a courageous, selfless, and loving man. Sonora's father was born in June, so she chose to hold the first Father's Day celebration in Spokane, Washington on the 19th of June, 1910.President Calvin Coolidge, in 1924, supported the idea of a national Father's Day. Then in 1966 President Lyndon Johnson signed a presidential proclamation declaring the 3rd Sunday of June as Father's Day. President Richard Nixon signed the law which finally made it permanent in 1972.QUOTES ABOUT DAD"A father is always making his baby into a little woman. And when she is a woman he turns her back again." -- Enid Bagnold"None of you can ever be proud enough of being the child of SUCH a Father who has not his equal in this world-so great, so good, so faultless. Try, all of you, to follow in his footsteps and don't be discouraged, for to be really in everything like him none of you, I am sure, will ever be. Try, therefore, to be like him in some points, and you will have acquired a great deal." -- Victoria, Queen of England"That is the thankless position of the father in the family-the provider for all, and the enemy of all." -- J. August Strindberg"It is a wise father that knows his own child." -- William Shakespeare"One father is more than a hundred schoolmasters." -- English Proverb"To be a successful father . . . there's one absolute rule: when you have a kid, don't look at it for the first two years." -- Ernest Hemingway"I cannot think of any need in childhood as strong as the need for a father's protection." -- Sigmund Freud

Father's Day originated in China dates back to the Republic of China era.Thirty-four years of the Republic of China on August 8 (August 8, 1945), the Shanghai scholar initiated activities to celebrate Father's Day, people respond immediately, a warm celebration. After the victory, Shanghai celebrities gentleman referred to the Shanghai Municipal Government jointly requested the central government in Nanjing, will be "Daddy" homonym of August 8 as Father's Day.In fact, this provision more in line with Chinese culture, the addition of homophonic Chinese characters, and August 8 through overlap of the two eight-deformation is the "Father."Important to note that the official did not provide for the third Sunday of June as Father's Day.

The world's first Father's Day, born in 1910 in the United States, was advocated by Mrs. Dodd, Sonora Louise Smart Dodd, who lived in Spokane, Washington. Mrs. Dodd's mother died of childbirth when she gave birth to her sixth child. Mrs. Dodd's father, Mr. William Smart, had participated in the Civil War.
After the death of her wife, she was alone on a rural farm in eastern Washington State, taking on the responsibility of raising and educating six children. Mrs. Dodd was the second and only girl in the family. When Mr. Smart died in 1909, Mrs. Dodd missed her father after attending the Mother's Day Thanksgiving service. Mrs. Dodd knew that her father's love and hardship in raising children was no less than that of any mother.
Mrs. Dodd told her feelings to the church's Reverend Rasmus in the hope of having a special one. Days, in memory of the great father of the whole world, this idea was approved by the priest and supported by various church organizations. Mrs. Dodd wrote to the mayor and the state government to express her ideas, and suggested that her father's birthday, 5 June each year, be Father's Day.
Mayor Spokane and Governor of Washington publicly expressed their approval. The state government adopted it. This proposal was accompanied by the change of the holiday period to the third Sunday of June.
On June 19, 1910, in Spokane, Washington, where Mrs. Dodd lived, the world's first Father's Day celebration was held. At about the same time, people in other towns across the United States began to celebrate Father's Day.

1、父亲节英语介绍: happy fathers daythe origin of fathers day is not clear. some say that it began with a church service in west virginia in 1908. others say the first fathers day ceremony was held in vancouver, washington. regardless of when the first true fathersday occurred, the strongest promoter of the holiday was mrs. bruce john dodd of spokane, washington. she thought of the idea for fathers day while listening to a mothers day sermon in 1909. sonora wanted a special day to honor her father, william smart. smart, who was a civil war veteran, was widowed when his wife died while giving birth to their sixth child. mr.smart was left to raise the newborn and his other five children by himself on a rural farm in eastern washington state. after sonora became an adult she realized the selflessness her father had shown in raising his children as a single parent. it was her father that made all the parental sacrifices and was, in the eyes of his daughter, a courageous, selfless, and loving man. in 1909, mrs.dodd approached her own minister and others in spokane about having a church service dedicated to fathers on june 5, her fathers birthday. that date was too soon for her minister to prepare the service, so he spoke a few weeks later on june 19th. from then on, the state of washington celebrated the third sunday in june as fathers day. children made special desserts, or visited their fathers if they lived apart. in early times, wearing flowers was a traditional way of celebrating fathers day. mrs.dodd favored the red rose to honor a father still living, while a white flower honored a deceased dad. berringer, who also held fathers day celebrations in washington state as early as 1912, chose a white lilac as the fathers day flower. states and organizations began lobbying congress to declare an annual fathers day. in 1916, president woodrow wilson approved of this idea, but it was not until 1924 when president calvin coolidge made it a national event to establish more intimate relations between fathers and their children and to impress upon fathers the full measure of their obligations. since then, fathers had been honored and recognized by their families throughout the country on the third sunday in june. in 1966 president lyndon johnson signed a presidential proclamation declaring the 3rd sunday of june as fathers day and put the official stamp on a celebration that was going on for almost half a century. when children cant visit their fathers or take them out to dinner, they send a greeting card. traditionally, fathers prefer greeting cards that are not too sentimental. most greeting cards are whimsical so fathers laugh when they open them. some give heartfelt thanks for being there whenever the child needed dad.
