丧这个词最初应该就是葬,葬就是藏用在藏尸体时的专用字,丧(sang3)在方言里也有塞的意思(塞和藏应该也是同源词,有些地方还可以等价互换,如"你把东西塞哪去了?".),东西堵在洞里或缝里.也就是推搡的搡.所以方言里,sang3和zang4都可以引申为贬义的"吃",意思是往肚子塞(藏或葬),表示能吃,食量大,从而引申为吃,红楼梦里"灌丧"一词,即此用法.从人死了又引申为失去,难过,白事,难过又引申为没活力.
