以网易邮箱申请为例进行申请英文字母开头电子邮箱步骤的说明，要申请电子邮箱，需提前准备以下内容：

可以上网的电脑一台、部分个人信息资料和自己可以正常使用的手机一部。

1、把电脑开机并进入系统，打开任意浏览器即可。

2、在浏览器地址栏中输入mail.163.com，或者在网页上找到邮箱的链接并点击打开，也可以百度搜索该邮箱，即可打开邮箱的登录页面。

3、在右侧登录页面位置，找到注册，并点击打开，就可以进入到邮箱的注册页面。

4、在这一步骤，有三个选项，注册字母邮箱、手机号码邮箱和VIP邮箱。其中vip邮箱是付费邮箱，功能更多，安全性能更好，如果想使用，请和邮箱的客服联系，需要缴纳一定的费用，这样操作起来比较简单。本说明中以免费邮箱为例。在免费邮箱里通常都使用字母邮箱，也可选择手机号码邮箱，在这里请选择注册字母邮箱。

5、开始填写注册信息，首先为电子邮箱起一个名字，6~18个字符，可使用字母、数字、下划线，需以字母开头，简单一点最好，但是简单的往往会被注册过了。这里可以使用自己的姓名拼音加上字符或者数字，这样也比较容易记住。

6、然后为电子邮箱设置一个密码，这个比较重要，一定要设置一个尽可能复杂，但又要能记得住的密码。

7、其次，输入注册者正在使用的一个手机号码，并点击免费获取验证码，将手机短信中收到的验证码填到短信验证码后的框内，在验证码后的框内输入后面图片上的内容。

8、在填写过程中，如果有输入错的信息或者不符合电子邮箱要求的信息时，系统会自动提示，可立即进行修改，最后点击最下面的立即注册。

9、这样就可以完成一个电子邮箱的注册了，注册生效之后，即可返回登录页面。输入注册时的帐号和密码，然后点击登录，登录到新申请好的邮箱账户内，如图：

注意事项：第一，在注册邮箱之前，要考虑清楚自己想要注册哪种邮箱和邮箱类型，即到底自己喜欢或者觉得哪家提供的邮箱适合自己，自己申请的邮箱到底选择免费邮箱还是付费邮箱；

第二，注册的邮箱帐号要尽量简单且容易记住，但是不能和已有邮箱帐号重复；

第三，密码要尽可能复杂，但要自己要能记住；

第四，填写手机号码时，要填写自己长期使用的号码，且尽可能不要更换号码，如要以后更换号码，更换时，要进入邮箱变更绑定的手机号码，以方便在忘记密码时找回密码。
