只要高中学历即可，应届可以直接考专本航海有关的院校。应往届没过录取线的也可去中专类航海有关学校，以上为干部船员。普通船员可到中专类航海学校有专门培训的。普通船员英语考试很简单，干部船员考试英语过4级 应该没问题。

笔试和面试都是要求英语很严格的，面试主要是准备英文的自我介绍，还有就是提问都是用英语的，包括询问个人情况、家庭情况、专业学习情况。
面试是在学校内进行的。面试官只有一个上了年纪的老太太，后来才知道她是武汉鑫裕盛船舶管理有限公司的的一名培训老师。基本上问的问题很简单，主要目的就是看看你对于鑫裕盛的一些了解和期许，以及个人发展的职业规划，表明自己愿意在鑫裕盛服务的时间。然后就是回去等通知。
几天以后我们老师告诉我们班又十来个人被录取了，然后又过了几天，我们被通知前往武汉鑫裕盛进行为期20多天的培训，主要是航海英语方面，我的英语底子还行，被公司评为3级英语水平，意为能听懂面试者的意思及准确地表达自己的观点。培训结束后就是在家为期1个月的等待，然后面试船东，很顺利，我面试上了日本“K”line船舶运输公司，这这个国际大公司里一条散货船服务了长达十个月。
