Never give up hope 【By Kaiser3344】永远别放弃希望Life doesn’t always give us the joys we want. We don’t always get our hopes and dreams, and we don’t always get our own way. But don’t give up hope, because you can make a difference one situation and one person at a time. Look for the beauty around you—in nature, in others, in yourself—and believe in the love of friends, family, and humankind. You can find love in a smile or a helping hand, in a thoughtful gesture or a kind word. It is all around, if you just look for it. Give love, for in giving it you will find the power in life along with the joy, happiness, patience, and understanding. Believe in the goodness of others and remember that anger and depression can be countered by love and hope. Even when you feel as though there isn’t a lot you can do to change unhappiness or problems, you can always do a little—and a little at a time eventually makes a big difference.

I love the beautiful young girl of this

portrait, my mother, painted years ago

when her forehead was white, and there was no

shadow in the dazzling 1)Venetian glass

of her gaze. But this other likeness shows

the deep trenches across her forehead's white

marble. The rose poem of her youth that

her marriage sang is far behind. Here is

my sadness: I compare these portrait one

of a joy-radiant brow, the other care-

heavy: sunrise—and the thick coming on

of night. And yet how strange my ways appear,

for when I look at these faded lips my heart

smile but at the smiling girl my tears start.

Patience

Tagore

If thou speakest not

I will fill my heart with the silence and endure it.

I will keep still and wait

like the night with starry vigil

and its head bent low with patience.

The morning will surely come,

the darkness will vanish,

and tht voice pour down in golden streams

breaking trough the sky.

Then thy words will take wing

in songs from every one of my birds’ nest,

and thy melodies

will break forth in flowers in all my forest groves.

Keep Walking

Here we stand together,Dressed in our pain,

Covered with scars

From wounds we did not ask for

Or deserve.

So what now?

We can't go back

And relive our lives.

We can't take back

The innocence we lost

Or make the sadness we felt

Into happiness

But we can go on from here,

So let us start.

Stretch out your hand to mine,

Close your eyes

And slowly let the pain slip away.

Let go of the sadness;

放下伤悲吧;

It belongs to yesterday,

And let's walk.

My friends,

We can't stay, looking back,

Lest we falter.

We must face forward,

Eyes wide open,

And keep on walking.

Hold tight and don't let go;

You aren't walking alone,

And neither am I.

紧紧抱握,绝不放弃;

Abou Ben Adhem

Leigh Hunt (1784 -1859)

Abou Ben Adhem (may his tribe increase!)

Awoke one night from a deep dream of peace,

And saw, within the moonlight in his room,

Making it rich, and like a lily in bloom.

An angel writing in a book of gold:—

Exceeding peace had made Ben Adhem bold,

And to the presence in the room he said,

‘What writest thou?’—The vision rais’d its head,

And with a look made of all sweet accord,

Answer’d, ‘The names of those who love the Lord.’

‘And is mine one?’ asked Abou. ‘Nay, not so,’

Replied the angel. Abou spoke more low,

But cheerly still; and said, ‘I pray thee, then,

Write me as one that loves his fellow men.’

The angel wrote, and vanish’d. The next night

It came again with a great wakening light,

And show’d the names whom love of God had blest,

And lo! Ben Adhem's name led all the rest.

Anthem for Doomed Youth

What passing-bells for these who die as cattle?

Only the monstrous anger of the guns.

Only the stuttering rifles' rapid rattle

Can patter out their hasty orisons.

No mockeries for them;no prayers nor bells,

Nor any voice of mourning save the choirs, ——

The shrill, demented choirs of wailing shells;

And bugles calling for them from sad shires.

What candles may be held to speed them all?

Not in the hands of boys, but in their eyes

Shall shine the holy glimmers of goodbyes.

The pallor of girls' brows shall be their pall;

Their flowers the tenderness of patient minds,

And each slow dusk a drawing-down of blinds.

Sea Fever

John Masefield

I MUST go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,

And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by,

And the wheel's kick and the wind's song and the white sail's shaking,

And a gray mist on the sea's face, and a gray dawn breaking.

I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide

Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;

And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,

And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.

I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life,

To the gull's way and the whale's way, where the wind's like a whetted knife;

And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover,

And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick's over.
