在加缪的戏剧中，《误会》相对是一部容易理解的作品。它没有曲折的情节，但其中透露出的思想却颇有一番讨论的价值。《误会》描写了一个匪夷所思的故事:离家二十年的浪子若望听说父亲去世，为了履行自己的责任，便隐姓埋名回到故乡母亲和妹妹玛尔塔开的旅馆之中。与此同时，为了离开故乡开始新的生活，玛尔塔和母亲也计划着开始最后一次的谋杀。结果，母亲和妹妹没认出他, 反而在夜里把他谋杀了。最终在得知真相后，母亲追随儿子投河自尽，玛尔塔也因为对这个世界感到绝望而自杀了。《误会》的故事取材于当时一个真实的新闻事件 ，这同时也在加缪的另一部作品《局外人》里出现。狱中的默尔索反反复复读这一则新闻报道，加缪借默尔索之口评价这个新闻时说： “不论怎样，我都觉得这个店客有点咎由自取。”① 从中可以看出，这个新闻对于加缪的影响之深，但是加缪却觉得这种悲剧是可以人为避免的， “只要拿出最简单的真诚态度，讲出最准确的话”。② 而这个真实的故事经过加缪的改编之后，也就更加具有了戏剧性，处处表现出一种荒诞的感觉。若望逃离了这个让人失去希望的小镇，二十年后又复返，他以为自己能够带来希望，帮助母亲和妹妹脱离苦海，但是却付出了自己的生命。从一定意义上说，若望想要帮亲人摆脱困境的愿望，也表现了他反抗的思想， 但他的“幻想”是造成“误会”并让自己走向死亡的根本原因。 若望打算让母亲与妹妹过上幸福的生活，但他不直接说出姓名，却始终抱有一种希望亲人们能把他认出来的幻想，面对妻子的直言劝告也视若无睹。这也反映了他在反抗中遭遇到陌生世界的一种恐惧心理，再次回到故乡，回到这荒诞令人绝望的环境中，“昔日的惶恐心情”再次萌发，他充满了不安和犹疑，不敢直面她们。他害怕遭到亲人的疏离，连她们端上的“一杯要钱的啤酒”也让他感到难过。可以说，他的反抗是具有妥协性的。 母亲在岁月的流逝之下，并非没有感受到痛苦和劳累，但她却选择了屈服于千篇一律的日常生活，沦为了罪恶的帮凶，甚至觉得谋杀也是一种帮别人解脱的方式，可以说她如加缪所说一般早就在 “精神上自杀” 了。而在得知自己杀害了亲生儿子后，她麻木的感觉才体会到了 “在爱中再生所感到的伤痛” ，于是她选择以死来结束荒诞不禁的生活。 玛尔塔是整个故事里最为激烈的反抗者 ，她厌恶周遭无趣的一切，渴望逃离，却和加缪的另一个剧本中的卡利古拉一样 选择了杀戮和恶 。她有着充满阳光的梦想，而这个梦想却指引她走向罪恶的深渊，最终梦想的破灭也把她带入了死亡。 如果说玛尔塔是因为母亲和哥哥的离去而选择自杀，倒不如说她是因为意识到对命运抗争的无力和自己不可改变的荒诞处境，而选择了 “哲学上的自杀” 。在自杀之前，她愤怒而又绝望地喊到: “要明白，无论对他还是对我们，无论是生还是死，既没有家园可言，也没有安宁可言。（冷笑）这片幽深的、没有阳光的土地，人进去就成为失明动物的腹中食物，总不能把这种地方称为家园吧！” 她的呼喊一语道破了这个世界的真相，只剩下人在这荒凉凉的世界上存在着的现实。 故事的最后只剩下玛利亚这个迷茫的人，仍然在孤独无依地请求上帝的帮助。她是活在日常生活中的人的象征，当寄托于他人身上的意义泯灭之时，人就只剩下一种被遗弃于一个异己世界的感觉。加缪哲学中的“荒谬”，就是现代的命运。它如同昔日盲目的命运一样沉重地压在人们头上，因为人理性与生俱来具有的局限性，就注定不可理解这世界的荒谬性。这造成悲剧的种子，潜藏在每个人的出生之中。 不同的人，不同的选择，却迎来了相同的结局：死亡，这仿佛是命运的捉弄，而这再次印证了世界的荒诞。 老仆人在故事中扮演的就是命运的角色。 他沉默寡言却始终出现，并几次在紧要关头促成了剧情的发展。他一方面作为罪恶的见证者，一方面作为悲剧的旁观者，贯穿始终。其中有以下几个方面: 在一整个悲剧的开始到结束，老仆人如同命运一般，在旁边观看着这一切的发生，你希望它能够帮助你，但是得到的答案却是“不”。 对于此，加缪自己则给出了不一样的答案: “他也并非一定象征命运” 。因为人被抛入这个世界当中，痛苦是孤立的，没有任何人可以帮助任何人。而这种解读，却表现出加缪另一种命运观:人与这世界与生俱来的对立，始终如同命运一般，围绕着每个人。《误会》的故事背景并非一定要设置在现代，但它却是加缪对现代悲剧的尝试，他将现代人物与悲剧语言结合，从而更具荒诞色彩。 而从某种意义上说，《误会》与古希腊著名的悲剧《俄狄浦斯王》有着异曲同工的地方，都是一部描写人与命运抗争的悲剧。尽管主人公最终都未摆脱命运的罗网，做出了违背伦理的事，但他们却在不妥协的抗争中获得了自身的价值。不同的是，作为悲剧的根源， 希腊神话中控制一切的是无法理解又不可抗拒的命运，就连神也不能置身事外 ，表现出彻头彻尾的悲观主义。而在《误会》中， 加缪认为悲剧是人的过失造成的，是可以避免的 ，如果若望说出了自己的身份，事情就可能完全不同。因此他就从另一个方面走向了积极向上。 尽管加缪的说法看上去与他一贯主张的命运的不可抗拒似乎存在着矛盾。 但是如果我们做出设想，对一个已经忘掉的儿子，一个陌生而冷漠的哥哥，他如不速之客一般地出现，她们又能真的把他置入自己的生活当中吗？如玛尔塔所说，一切看似都是偶然事件，其实都已在 “命定的序列” 的安排之下， “任何人在其中都没有得到承认” 。这看似偶然的决定，都是被更深层次的原因所决定的。 事实上，加缪也是在肯定了存在荒诞的命运的前提下，而提出人尽其所能的反抗。即便结局相同，加缪借人物不同的选择还是给予读者了启示：面对世界的荒诞，重要的不是反抗的成败，而是敢于正视世界与命运的勇气。生活在一片闭塞的土地上，不见阳光，就连春天的隐修院里也只开两朵花蕾、一朵玫瑰，生活在这儿的人了无生趣，来到这儿的游人没有不想尽快离开的。加缪在故事之中不止一次地提到，这小镇的荒凉其实是当时整个欧洲的悲惨图景: 在第二次世界大战期间，人们感到前途渺茫，苦闷彷徨，人的生存面临严重威胁，人失去了安全感，人被绝望、孤独和无家可归的情绪所笼罩。人对这个世界失去了信心，也更加意识到他们之所面临的逃无可逃的荒诞。 但加缪又在故事之中给若望构建了一个桃源般的居住之地:在遥远的另一边，却有着大海和沙滩，充满生机的春天和秋天，在那里万物都呈现着本来的面目。 人真的可以生活在这种地方吗？恐怕不是。若望最终离开这美妙之地，玛尔塔也落得个愿望破灭的下场，这都象征着人身陷囹圄不可拯救的前景，那是基督所编造的“天堂”谎言的破灭。这也表现出加缪一贯 “反基督” 的立场。因此，加缪想告诉人们的是， 不用渴望来世的拯救，而是认清自己所处的境况，正视荒诞的现实，努力地活下去，才是自己内心的得救之道。 这处处存在着的荒诞正是《误会》这个剧本的特点，而剧本题为《误会》也有着更深层次的含义。加缪就是想 “让人明白，每个人身上都存在着一部分必须摧毁的幻想和误会。”③ 这误会的根源在于人对自己的错误认识，对这世界的错误认识。 在加缪的哲学里，荒诞是无法消除的，因此人不要试图去理解荒诞，应当选择勇敢而清醒地接受荒诞。尽管这种荒诞如同命运不可战胜，也要愤然向荒诞提出挑战，为自己的生命赋予自我的烙印。①加缪．局外人［M］，加缪全集，柳鸣九译.译林出版社，2017. ②加缪．〈戏剧集〉（美国版）序言［M］，加缪全集，李玉民译.译林出版社，2017. ③洛特曼《加缪传》，肖云上等译.桂林：漓江出版社，1999.
