chance和opportunity来表达“机会”，应用于不同的场合。

1、Chance

它有一个意思是“概率”，也就是结果有不确定性。

但是这个时候就不能说：

opportunity 是对机遇的一种比较正式的说法,一般比较正式的场合才会使用,而且这种一般情况下是人为造成的机遇.chance 是比较随意的感觉,而且一般情况下是在位置的情况发生,有可能没有人为因素造成这样的结果.相同点是两个都可以用来表达机遇.I have the pportunity to do sth.I have the chance to do sth.但是做的事情,用opportunity的比较正经.而用chance的一般比较生活化或随意.chance还有另外一种解释是偶然.i met someone by chance这个就不能用opportunity啦.
