A Raven saw a Swan and strongly desired the Swan's beautiful white feathers. Thinking the color was due to constant washing in the water the Swan was swimming in, the Raven left his perch and went to live in the lake.
乌鸦看到天鹅那洁白无暇的羽毛，就十分渴望自己也能拥有那样一身漂亮、纯白的羽毛。
乌鸦猜想，天鹅那纯白的羽毛，肯定是因为他在水中经常嬉戏清洗的缘故。于是，他离开附近的那些他经常从中觅食的祭坛，在湖泊和池塘里居住了下来。
But washing in the lake's water had no effect on the Raven's color and as he could not fish for food, he perished.
可是，无论乌鸦怎么样反反复复勤奋地清洗自己的羽毛，但是羽毛的颜色却一点没有改变;而他却因为没有东西吃，饿死了。
Change of habit cannot alter nature.
盲目的模仿，并不能带来好的效果;毫无根据的猜测，只能是自讨没趣。
