along的意思是沿着;顺着;靠着…边;沿着…的某处(或旁边)。
1、The device draws gas along the pipe. 这装置将气体顺着管子抽出来。

along用作副词的基本意思有二:一是“向前,往前”，常用在运动动词之后以加强其效果; 二是“一道,一起”，可用于人，也可用于物。用于美式英语还可指“接近”; 引申可指“在这里〔那里〕”。along通常和动态动词搭配使用。
along用作副词时不用于比较等级。
作为介词时，与名词road，river，corridor，line等连用，常指那些有这细长外形的名词。
