侦探英文是Detective。
侦探（全称：侦缉探查，英语：Detective）是负责调查案件的职业。指负责调查的调查员（investigator），意思可以是刑警或私家侦探。前者是专门负责调查及侦破刑事案件的警察。后者则是通过私人委托，为雇主调查婚外情、寻人、寻找机密、包括私人委托侦破刑事案件等的事情。
