talk作名词时意为“谈话，谈判，（非正式的）讲话，报告，空谈，谣言，话题，说话的方式”。作动词时意为“说话，谈论，谈心，谈判，（用某种语言）讲，说服，泄露秘密，议论，讲的是，说闲话，供出消息”。
talk既可用作及物动词，也可用作不及物动词。用作及物动词时接名词或代词作宾语，也可接以形容词或介词短语充当补足语的复合宾语。
