在饭店坐下后一般是先要菜单，如果桌上没有，而服务员又没有主动送过来，你可以这样说：waiter，menu， please！orwaiter，may I have the menu ， please？然后 waiter 站在你旁边，你就可以开始 “order” 了，告诉他你要什么：I'll have some chicken soup，a steak and potatoes，………，some beer， please。也就是说客人“点菜”一般不用“order”，而是说“I'll have some……”。但是“order”有时可以这样说：Yesterday evening John invited some friends to a Chinese restaurant to have meal ，John ordered lots of dishes and drinks，so they had a good time。
