Yao Ming (Chinese: 姚明; Pinyin: Yáo Míng) (born September 12, 1980, in Shanghai, China) is a Chinese professional basketball player and is considered one of the best centers in the National Basketball Association (NBA) today. He is also among the tallest of players in the NBA standing at a height of 7'6". He is the only son of his father Yao Zhiyuan and Fang Fengdi. He played for the Shanghai Sharks of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) for five years, and now plays center for the Houston Rockets in the NBA. He was selected by Houston as the 1st overall pick of the 2002 NBA Draft and signed with them on October 21, 2002.

都可以的。只是习惯用Mr Yao Ming。这个其实没有绝对的规定，英文名称并不一定非要姓在后的。东西方的姓名习惯是有差别的，这一点西方英文世界是同样承认的。在他们眼里，东方人的姓名习惯是姓氏在前，名字在后。所以通常情况里英文中只会表示“First Name”和“Last Name”，一前一后。而在英文中这其中并没有绝对规定那个是姓那个是名。而中国人的姓氏习惯是在前，西方也承认这个习惯，所以“YAO MING”是没有异议的。这是根据东方习惯的排列。除非说英文中特别强调“Family Name”这就必须是家族姓氏的位置了，除了户口调查通常不会这么教条。只是我们中国人因为学习了英文，知道西方人的姓名习惯是姓在后，而我们会误认为这是绝对的英文形式，这是一种误解。要知道“YAO MING”不是英文名，而是中文名的英文写法。所以依照中国习惯是没有问题的。另外，如果试一下就知道了，托国外的朋友给自己发两封信，一封姓氏在前，另一封姓在后，只要拼写上没错，这两封信你是都会收到的，是只说汇款或邮寄物品这些需要提供身份证件的邮寄行为都没问题。只要关注一下国际性的大活动，比如奥运会之类的就会发现，国际上运动员的姓名字幕中中国人或朝鲜韩国，等东方姓氏国家的人名都不乏姓在前名在后的，偶尔也有名在前姓在后的。这两种都有效，只能说东西方的“习惯”上不同，而“法律”上是互相承认的。我们学习外语后就会有些将外语绝对化的误区，这是比较片面的，因为西方是开放的，同样了解东方的习惯。
