哥伦布 ColumbusColumbus was born in 1451 in Genoa of Italy. His father was a wool merchant. When he was 26 years old, he became to make merchant voyages. The farthest countries he reached were Iceland and Guinea.At that time, many European countries became stronger and stronger. Their ships reached Africa and Asia. They got gold, silver, silk, tea and other things from the orient. Columbus wanted to make another way to China and India.On August 2,1492, Columbus left Spain and began his first voyage. He had three ships. After two months’ hard sailing, on October 12, they got to an island in the Bahamas. On October 29, they reached Cuba. But a few days later, one of his ships left them. And on December25, his flagship sunk. Fortunately, the ship that left them rejoined him again. They went back to Lisbon on March 4,1943.Although they didn’t get to rich orient countries and look back wealth, they found a new place that nobody had gone to. Columbus thought it was India and called the islands the West Indias.From 1493 to 1504, he sailed to America three times. 英文演讲稿：Hero in My Life When I sat at the desk, trying to write the essay, I found it hard to start. My life is filled with heroes, ranging from famous public figures such as pop stars and politicians to common people like my friends, classmates, teachers and relatives. Finally, I chose my mother with deliberation. That doesn't means my father is less important, on the contrary, no one can replace him in my life. But my mom is the one who carried me for 9 months, growing inside, and the one who I hurt deeply but never ever regret her love to me. She always stands in the centre of my life, from past till now and possibly in the future. So today, I would like to share my stories and feelings to you. My mom was born in a well-off family in 1960s, not a good family background at that time. Intense social contradiction and unrest made her a suffering childhood. What's worse, a lack of access to a highly standard education ruined her treasure youth. Fortunately, getting through the darkness and cold winter, the spring of wise policy came, giving her another chance to achieve a further education. After graduating from university, she became a doctor, which she took as her life-long job. She reaps a good reputation from her kindness and considerateness. Still, you find nothing special on her. Trivial and commonplace, she is ordinary, preparing our meals and doing the chores everyday as every family does. But millions of small things build her shining figure in my eyes. When I was young, I was so naughty that I never went home right after classes; Instead, I went around, having fun. Mom searched for me anxiously almost every evening. Once, when searching, the root of her high heel got stuck in the crack, broken. She only mentioned it in a plain voice that night and I just kept the way I was, never thought about how she making it through such a long way. Also, like every teenager, I went into my rebellious jag at 13. I fell in love with romantic books and was crazy about writing. Although I never skipped class, I never listened. What I did was just reading and writing. Conflict between my parents and me sharpened and finally, I began wandering outside until midnight after quarreling with them, attempting to make them crazy. Again, they searched for me anxiously, almost every week. In order to save me, they decided to carry me to school and back home everyday. They both had their jobs, but they never failed to fetch me. And my poor mom, she tried to communicate with me, but I made her cry almost every time. However, she never thought about giving me up. She is weak, but at the same time she is very, very strong. At last, my family got through those tough times and I was accepted by the best high school near my home. Now we are separated. Just like the famous saying: "we never know our parents' love until we become parents”. Living alone, I'm easily upset by small things like shopping, washing, bedding and cleaning. Until that time did I realized that I have a great mom. Her kindness, forgiveness, devotedness and resolute taught me a lot on every respect in life. And now, I'm trying my best to be such a good person like her--a hero in my life. Besides, I want to say, I love you, mom. I admire you, mom. And I'll follow you, mom. Thank mom and thank moms all around the world for their unconditional love and devotion. Their love are like a circle, it has no beginning and ending. It keeps going around and around ever expanding, touching everyone who comes in touch with it. And I'm luckily being the beloved and I'll expand the love to everyone who comes in touch. That's all.
