没错，在美国不用bill，因为在美国，bill的意思是钞票的意思，如one dollar bill, ten dollar bill, hundred dollar bill。在新加坡和其他欧洲国家，bill不是钞票，所以能用"can I have the bill please？"在英国，钞票是"pound",如5-pound note。新加坡用"dollar note"来命明钞票。当然，bill还有其他意思，如人名，Bill Clinton，美国总统！ 如果在美国你跟服务生说"Can I have the bill please?"，他可能以为你向他讨钱呢！ 哈哈。言归正传，在美国可讲：Can I have the check please?Can you give me the check?Check, please.在欧洲，用：Can I have the bill please?Bill, please.Receipt, please.

check和bill都是付账、买单的意思：
其中，check 就是“结帐”的意思，另外也可以说 buy the bill，就是中文里的“埋单”。其实“埋单”是个地道的粤语词来的，只不过讲的人多了，就成了普通话的一分子了。因此，这两个词在欧美国家用于付账，都是很地道的，喜欢说哪个就可以说哪个。
