1. 面试礼仪（interview etiquette）守时（punctuality）是职业道德的一个基本要求，提前10-15分钟到达面试地点效果最佳，可熟悉一下环境，稳定一下心神。提前半小时以上到达会被视为没有时间观念（sense of time），但在面试时迟到或是匆匆忙忙赶到却是致命的，如果你面试迟到，不管你有什么理由，也会被视为缺乏自我管理和约束能力（self-discipline），即缺乏职业能力，给面试者留下非常不好的印象。一进面试单位，若有前台，则开门见山说明来意，比如说：“My name is Tim Jones and I have an interview scheduled with John Smith at 2 pm”。 如果没有人通知，即使前面一个人已经面试结束，也应该在门外耐心等待，不要擅自走进面试房间。当自己的名字被喊到，回应一声后敲门，听到里面说：“请进”后，要回答：“打扰了”再进入房间。面试时，握手（shaking hands）是最重要的一种身体语言。专业化的握手能创造出平等、彼此信任的和谐氛围。你的自信也会使人感到你能够胜任而且愿意做任何工作。这是创造好的第一印象的最佳途径。可以边握手边介绍自己，比如："I'm Tina Lionel, it's a pleasure to meet you"。但切记用湿漉漉的手（sweaty palms）来握手，记得提前擦干（dry off）。2. 自我介绍（self-introduction）面试官喜欢问形形色色的问题，而最令人哑口无言的，往往是一些最简单和最常见的题目，比如开放式的问题（open-ended question）："Tell me about yourself"。记得，回答的要点（key elements）就是把你的背景和经历和现在应征的职位联系起来。当然，在这之前要好好分析职位JD，这样才可以用你的技能、兴趣和经历告诉面试官自己才是符合要求（meet requirements）的人。自我介绍的时间不要过长，应当简短明了（short and concise），最好保持在1到3分钟。那么，在这短短的几分钟内该如何引起面试官的兴趣呢？首先，简单概括（recap）一下能够引起对方注意的能力（compelling qualifications），比如说：My strengths are self-discipline, team coordination, adapting to changing circumstances, open-mindedness, and dedication to work.但记得“美酒虽好，却不能贪杯”，虽然自我表扬可以显示出对这份工作的极大兴趣，但切不可过于夸张，避免滔滔不绝花费太多时间谈论自己的优点（strengthens），毕竟面试官的时间也是有限的。其次，说说自己做过的和公司业务相关的事，比如：I’m doing an independent study/working on a project/doing some research related to your company/industry/technology…最后，注意细节。面试官会根据你的自我介绍内容追加一些问题（follow up with more questions），所以要记得自己的回答要有理有据，至少能够自圆其说（support your assertions）。比如说，好好想想有哪些例子可以说明你曾经以自己的优点成功地完成了志愿者活动（volunteer activities）、学术项目（academic projects）或其它有成效的事情（productive endeavors）。3. 面试后当面试官宣布面试结束后，应该先礼貌道谢，然后再退出会议室。不要急于打听面试结果。在一般情况下，企业在面试结束后都要进行讨论、汇总，报领导批准，最后确定录用人选可能需要一周的时间。在这段时间内一定要耐心等候消息，切不可到处打听，急于求成往往会适得其反（backfire）。
