1.寻找合适的推荐人一般留学申请时的推荐信需要2-3封，也就是要找2-3个推荐人。普遍的做法是老师写好内容，然后你自己去翻译成英语，也可以自己写好找老师签字，只要你的老师认可这种做法就行。不管你用哪种方法，首先要找一个好的推荐人。推荐人必须要非常熟悉申请者，能从比较全面的角度了解申请者。不要一味追求推荐人职位的高低，首要考虑熟悉度。录取委员会需要的推荐人应该是与申请者有过密切交集的，对被推荐人的学术水平和个人能力有十分了解。因此在一个熟悉你的任课老师和一个不熟悉的校长之间选择，要选任课老师。同时避免选择同一类型的推荐人，要从不同的方面来展示自己的优势和长处。因此如果是在校生，可以找2个学术的推荐人和一个实习的推荐人。2.密切沟通确定了推荐人就要开始和推荐人进行深入的沟通，出国留学的学生会比较多，推荐人可能要同时给多个学生写推荐信，因此要尽早联系推荐人。尽量和推荐人面谈，谈谈自己的成绩，申校专业，未来的规划发展。让推荐人对自己和申请的专业有进一步的了解。面谈的时候记得带上自己的简历和个人陈述。一方面让推荐人更加的了解自己，另外一方面也让推荐人在写推荐信的时候更加有针对性。3.推荐信内容一般来说，申请者是不能看到推荐信内容的。但是在和推荐人详谈时可以先交代下所申请的学校注重什么样的特质。通篇都是溢美之词而没有实例佐证的推荐信也不是录取委员希望看到的，所以推荐信的内容一定要和自己写的个人陈述、简历细节一致。推荐信主要由以下几项构成：推荐人和申请者的关系，是任课教授？还是实习的mentor？熟悉程度：比如任课的教授教过2-3门课，而且是课程论文的指导老师。申请者的优势和长处；优秀的学术成绩和研究能力；工作中的杰出表现；特殊才能，比如艺术、体育、技艺等。这些特质都需要有实例的支撑，列举一些具体数据和细节，能让录取委员会从实例中看到申请人的优秀的特质。也可以采用适当的对比，通过同平级的人相比，来突出申请者的优势。注意事项：①推荐信最好是控制在一页之内，做到言简意赅，有理有据。②推荐信最后打印在学校/公司的抬头纸，需要推荐人亲手签名。③注意提醒推荐人推荐信提交的链接是有有效期的。④避免亲属或家庭成员作为推荐人。如果实在家族企业实习，如果一定要请亲属推荐，在写推荐信的时候一定不要表明血缘关系。
