1、就近原则：在正式文体中，由下列词语连接的并列主语，谓语与靠近的主语在“人称、数”上一致，包括的词组有：
（1）There be 句型
例：There is an apple, a pear and two bananas in the bag.
盘子里有一个苹果，一个梨子和两个香蕉。
（2）Neither...nor... 既不……也不……
例：Neither you nor he is engineer.
你和他都不是工程师。
（3）Either...or... 不是……就是……
例：Either they or Jim is going to Shanghai next Saturday.
不是Jim就是他们下周六要去上海。
（4）Not only...but also...
例：Not only Ann but also her parents stay at home every Sunday.
不仅Ann每周日待在家里，她父母也如此。
（5）在倒装句中：谓语可与后面第一个主语一致。
例：In the distance was heard the clapping of hands and the shouts of the people.
在远处，能听见鼓掌声和人们的呼喊声。
2、就远原则：“名词 + 介词/介词词组 + 名词 ”结构作主语时，谓语动词的单复数要与介词/介词短语前的名词（即离谓语动词比较远的那个主语）单复数保持一致，经常出现的此类介词/介词词组包括：
还有 ---- as well as；
诸如 ---- such as, like；
比 ---- rather than, more than, no less than；
with ---- with, along with, together with, combined with；
除了 ---- but, except, besides, in addition to, apart /aside from.
例：Mike with his parents, has seen the film.
Mike和他的父母一起看过了这部电影。
例：My father, no less than I, is a baseball fan.
我父亲，不亚于我，是个棒球迷。

1、在倒装句和there be句型中，谓语动词与后面的第一个主语保持一致。
2、在定语从句中，关系代词作主语的时候，它的谓语动词要与它所指的先行词保持一致。
